Police last month arrested John Grassano, 42, and 20-year-old Sean Loychik, after Grassano allegedly put three breast pumps valued at nearly $1,000 into a shopping cart. Loychik pushed the cart out of the store as Grassano talked to a cashier.


Police last week learned of about a dozen other instances dating to July in which Grassano or Grassano and Loychik absconded with more than 40 breast pumps valued at about $15,000. Investigators applied for warrants in the cases, which were documented on surveillance video.


A store manager on Oct. 11 noticed the two men and thought they looked looked "exactly like" two men who'd stolen breast pumps and baby monitors Oct. 5.


After being shown the video at the time, Loychik started crying and told police Grassano paid him $50 for his "illicit efforts".


Grassano and Loychik on Oct. 11 had breast pumps and video monitors in their cart, though left them near an exit after Grassano noticed police.


Grassano initially said the pumps were for his daughter, who is carrying Loychik's child, according to a report. After an officer asked why he needed four breast pumps, Grassano said he sells them on eBay.

Thats why I rented one with my first child. With my son since he was such a good nurser I used a manual to pump when he was in the NICU and for when we went out some where. I didn't feel comfortable nursing him in public. When at someones home I would ask to go into a bedroom so I could have privacy.

I rented my pump - no way was I going to breast feed twins! When my grandson was in the NICU, my daughter rented one - insurance covered it.

My sister's twins weighed 8lbs2 and 6lbs8 at birth , she breast fed them both for a year ! I breast fed all my babies but mum's who do it with multiples deserve a round of applause .

My pump was $160. I used it like twice and I only got $40 for it when I sold it. People are leery of other womens titty milk. So I can't say I would be stealing pumps to sell and expect to make a big profit. And I breastfed everywhere. I would totally pull my boob out in public. Babies gotta eat!

A good breast pump is expensive! my sister passed one to me after she was done having children and at hospital grade easily cost $400. I have one still very good shape plan to sell or rent.
