Norberto Fraticelli intentionally crashes auto to hurt gf's children

Nov. 17—A man is accused of intentionally crashing his car to hurt his girlfriend’s children. NBC 10’s Dan Jaehnig reports.

New Bedford man is accused of intentionally driving head-on into a telephone pole Monday in an attempt to hurt his girlfriend’s children.

Norberto Fraticelli, 43, was arraigned Monday on a number of charges, including assault. He was ordered held without bail and to have no contact with the children.

Prosecutors said Fraticelli was upset with his girlfriend and that as a way to get back at her, he offered to drive her 15-year-old daughter, 12-year-old son and a 14-year-old friend to school. Police said the children were treated at a hospital for non-lifethreatening injuries after the crash.

Investigators said Fraticelli never wears a seat-belt and doesn’t make the children wear theirs either.

But they said Fraticelli put on his seat belt just before hitting the gas, driving across a lane of oncoming traffic, and slamming into a telephone pole. The car caught fire.

It was not immediately known why Fraticelli was upset.

They were lucky as fuck they weren't killed if they had no seat belts on! I had a friend once that was 5 months pregnant and got in a fight in the car with her no good man. He was violent before she got prego but she said he had "changed." Right. He got so mad at her he slammed on the brakes and whipped her side of the car into a telephone ppole, making her lose the baby. In court he admitted he did it on purpose because "she had a mouth on her and he thought she deserved it." Yes, he really changed.

Fraticelli was arraigned on three counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and several motor vehicle offenses, He was ordered held without bail and to have no contact with the children.

The victims told police Mr. Fraticelli was driving them to school around 7 a.m. when he began traveling down the wrong side of Durfee Street for nearly two minutes.

Prosecutors said Mr. Fraticelli put on his seat belt as he accelerated down the street. He reportedly hit a parked car, and then rammed his vehicle into a telephone pole. The impact split the pole and caused the vehicle to burst into flames
