http://nancygrace.blogs.cnn.com/2010...bottom-of-sea/FBI Investigates tourist's Aruba photo; Is skeleton at bottom of sea?
New York (CNN) – When Patti Muldowney went snorkeling off the coast of Aruba last October, the Pennsylvania woman probably could not have imagined one of her underwater photos would renew interest in the nearly five-year-old Natalee Holloway case.
Three months after snapping travel pictures of 'colorful fish' on a disposable film camera during her Royal Caribbean cruise's first stop, Muldowney and her husband realized that one picture contains what they believe appears to be human remains.
"When I looked at that photo, I said, 'By darn, that certainly does look like a skeleton,"' John Muldowney said on HLN's Nancy Grace. "You can see the skull. You can see where the eye sockets were. You can see where the chin was," he said.
"It's lying flat on its back. And its arms are cradled around," Muldowney added. "You can almost see fingers. And then on the one sleeve it looks like some kind of maybe clothing that's deteriorating."
[...]
The picture has raised the notion that if it is of a skeleton, it could be Holloway.
[...]
John Muldowney says Aruban authorities have not yet contacted him about the photo and the Aruban prosecutor's office was not aware of the photo until a Nancy Grace producer called for comment. They did, however, say they would investigate to determine if the photo is a potential lead in the half-decade-old case.
The FBI says it is investigating. "The photo has been made available to all elements of the FBI that are involved in this foreign police cooperation case," Mike Kortan, assistant director of the FBI, said in statement released Friday.
Investigative leads are being pursued and the effort is ongoing."
[...]
In underwater burials, it is typical for arms, legs and other extremities to be dispersed and for lighter bones to be carried away from heavier bones by fish, wildlife and water, according to Heather Walsh-Haney, a forensic anthropologist.
"It looks as if there's something that may be on top of the skeleton," Walsh-Haney said of the image in the photograph. "That would certainly bode well for preserving the center of the mass of the body and keeping most of it there."
But Marty Makary, a doctor and professor of public health at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Maryland, said he sees mixed signs, some indicating the image may not be a skeleton.
"What I don't like about the photo is there's no spinal cord or vertebral column," he said.
"In fact, below this roundish skull type profile you see a curvature, which doesn't really represent a normal spinal column.'

I tend to agree b/c I know with me if I want to see something there I can.
But why didnt they raise a fuss while still on the island and demand cops check it out or they would call whoever needed.
I have been snorkelling in the isles how the hell can they even know exactly where they were at?
Not like you can stand there as if gazing at a field and say there it is

I have never been snorkeling. I have never murdered an attractive woman. I used to surf. My father operates a deep-sea fishing charter company. I do not currently abuse drugs.

Who knows. It might be a skull and the rest rocks....I would think the sea life would have dragged a body every which way and if she was down there....her bones would surely be scattered and not all in one piece. Just my opinion....but what do I know? I hope they DO find her so the family can have somewhat of a proper burial for her....and maybe someday find out what really happened.
Have you all heard Yorans (sp?) latest story about she fell off the balcony at the hotel? HE is such an asshole.

Well when I was snorkelling(believe me I never will again).
I saw baracudas and their teeth(made me leave the water FAST).
Octopus, all sorts of stuff that I think would eat/move anything fleshy.
The baracudas teeth are crazy and they were sawing through woody junk on the nottom of the boats

http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/03/20/...ins/index.htmlAruban divers to inspect site where couple says they saw human remains
(CNN) -- An Aruban police dive team will search the site where an underwater photograph was taken that might show human remains, a spokeswoman for the Aruban prosecutor said Saturday.
The picture has renewed interest in the nearly 5-year-old Natalee Holloway case.
Officials first heard of the picture, taken in October by a vacationing American couple, on Thursday, Ann Angela, a spokeswoman for Aruban prosecutor Peter Blanken, said
"We have received the picture, and the diving team of the Aruban police will start doing preliminary work at the spot where we believe it was taken," Angela told CNN.
She declined to identify the location, saying authorities want to avoid attracting onlookers during the search.
The picture has raised the notion that, if it shows human remains, they could be those of Holloway, an 18-year-old Alabama high school student whose 2005 disappearance while on a graduation trip to Aruba was widely publicized.

To me these bones /rocks look like everything
IF they are by chance.
With all of dickheads "multiple confessions" will they arrest him?
Or do they have to get more on him to arrest.
I dont know Arubian Laws
Im wondering if that video shot in the car would be a confession to them since they now have a body.
Probrably cant get COD after all these years.
IF they are,I betcha in his wildest dreams did he ever think they would find her.
This clown reminds me of Paul Warner that was executed few days ago.
Very cocky both of them
Thats torture to Natalies fanmily the way he keeps spewing a diff story every 2 months

All I am going to say is that the PA couple have their 15 mins.
ANYONE who watches TV knows that's not a skeleton. Scavengers would have run off with everything and the bones would be scattered all over the ocean floor.
Even if she had been wrapped in plastic, 5 years later... yeah, those people are idiots.

"I do not believe that these photos represent a body. I think it's a rock formation that certainly does present upon initial perception a suggestion of a human skeletal remains, but I do not believe that it is," Dr. Cyril Wecht said.
After looking at the photograph that first appeared in the Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era newspaper, Wecht, one of the country's leading forensic pathologists, said the image doesn't match what a skeleton should look like.
"If you look at what would have to be the head you see that it does not really fit. It it's a front view, then what would be orbital sockets are far too low. If it's a rear view, then that does not fit because there's a lower portion that would not fit in with the neck," Wecht said.
Wecht said it's not likely that the skeleton of the missing teen could remain intact for that long.
"The whole idea of a skeletal remains being in the water for a period of a couple of months shy of five years is just untenable," Wecht said.

Ann Angela, a spokeswoman for the public prosecutor's office in Aruba, said Saturday she was not authorized to say when the divers would be dispatched, except that it would happen "in the very near future."

One of the challenges the dive team faces is finding exactly where the photograph was taken.
"We have received the photo," Angela said Saturday. "The problem is that the couple cannot say exactly where they took the picture. They cannot point to the exact location. But someone has now come forward who believes that they know the spot. So we are going to do a preliminary investigation, which means a dive team will be dispatched to that location."
[...]
She added that it was not uncommon for human remains to be found off the coast and cautioned that even if a body was discovered, it might not be Holloway's.

Aruban police contacted the island's tour companies and used a dive team to search the island's snorkeling locations, said Ann Angela, spokeswoman for the Aruba prosecutor's office.
After searching Sunday and Wednesday, police "feel pretty confident" they scoured all areas typically used by snorkelers and found nothing that resembled the image depicted in the photograph, she said. "It's a dead end," she added. "We're assuming the photo is of coral."
Though no more dives are planned to follow up on the couple's tip, Angela said the prosecutor's office will continue "to follow every lead" in an attempt to determine what happened to Holloway

maybe its not her....but it still would be cool for someone to dive down and confirm that its not her. or just dive down and say its rocks...or just freakin' dive down.
fuck me, fuck you, fuck my life, and fuck the world.
Uh, they did. They didn't find anything.called off a dive team's search for the remains of Natalee Holloway after two days of searching the waters off Aruba
The fact that the dumbasses who supposedly captured an image of a dead body on the ocean floor without realizing it, had no clue where the hell they had been diving at the time... well I applaud the dive team for making any effort at all. It's been months since the pictures were taken and they didn't know where to look, it's not so simple as someone just diving down to confirm it's a bunch of rocks. Which is exactly what it looks like. That's not a body, it's not Natalee Holloway, and they just wanted publicity, which is exactly why they ran to the media and whined that the FBI weren't taking them seriously.

I think he's guilty of killing Natalie, which is where my next comment is going.
If he did indeed stab Stephany, wtf does he have against women?
"Mexican Americans don't like to just get into gang fights,

I just can't believe that anyone is this much of a dumbass to leave a dead body in their own hotel room after being suspected of murdering someone else... I'm wondering who he owes money to and why... seems like a mob set up of some sort or am I reading too many thrillers?
I would love to believe that when I die I will live again, that some thinking, feeling, remembering part of me will continue. But much as I want to believe that, and despite the ancient and worldwide cultural traditions that assert an afterlife, I know of nothing to suggest that it is more than wishful thinking.

His dad is not in Peru to show him how to dispose of the body and give him protection from prosecution. Can't wait to see how this one plays out.Joran Van Der Stoop the 22-year-old Dutch playboy twice arrested in the mysterious disappearance of American Natalee Holloway, has been named the prime suspect in the death of a young Peruvian woman found dead in a Lima hotel today, five days after she disappeared.
The man linked to the Natalee Holloway case is sought in a Peru murder.Stephany Tatiana Flores Ramirez, 21, disappeared Friday and was found dead this morning at the Miraflores Hotel Tac in Lima, Peru. Flores was last seen with van der Sloot, the Dutch national who was twice arrested and released in connection with the disappearance of Holloway , an 18-year-old American student who went missing in Aruba five years ago this week.

So now it's obvious he's a serial killer. he won't be called so as Holloway hasn't been found.

Looks like he's going to get Nailed this time; too bad another young lady had to pay with her life for it to happen.
I've not followed this Casey Anthony case down in Florida; it seems the consensus that she is guilty of murdering her young daughter? That's just unfathomable (I have a hard time with the child murders and I just can't follow them as closely).
