Jessica Mancuso charged with DUI and Child Abuse

PORT ST. LUCIE — A woman who reportedly drank "a whole bunch" before crashing her truck into a wall early Sunday morning and dropping her 4-year-old son was arrested, according to a police report released Monday.



Jessica Mancuso, 31, faces DUI and child abuse charges after colliding about 12:30 a.m. with a wall at the gate of a community on Southwest Paar Drive.

Mancuso, whose shirt had red stains that appeared to be from wine, told investigators she was drinking beer and wine at a friend's home before going to pick up her 4-year-old son from his friend's home and trying to drive home.

"When she got to the gate of Saw Grass Lakes she ran off the road and hit the cement wall next to the entrance gate," the report states. "Jessica told me that 'it was wrong for me to be driving but it's OK because I made it home.'" She admitted drinking "a whole bunch" and refused field sobriety and breath tests. Mancuso didn't recall dropping her son when she got him out of the truck, but a witness said she did.

The babysitter is a moron for not thinking of a way to delay things until the cops arrived. But legally, she can't keep the baby from her mom.

That being said, I think I would take my chances and let mom call the cops on ME for not returning her child. I'd gladly settle for that legal hassle.
