Melanie Ilene Rieger, a college student, was murdered by her boyfriend on May 24, 1994. The conference was established in her memory with the hope that others would avoid such tragedy.
My letter will have to be tactful as it is a conference about victims/survivors so I can't go all nuts about it.

OH Rockin,,,,you are so cool,,,,,Yes!!! you are absolutely right,,,no sense reaming these people out,,they are dealing w/ a very emotional issue,,no need to add to their troubles...but a genuine letter pointing out that, perhaps, this is not the best choice as far as speakers go (Now if they are looking for a shrieking harpy and a stooge,,well,,then they hit their target).

I had a real hard time finding anything out about Melanie Ilene Rieger. I finally found the following:
1) Also at the conference will be the wife of one of the DC Snipers. Given that I was in DC at that very time frame, I have this closer to my heart than most. Also, this woman revealed at some point that she suspected it was her estranged husband early on but never did anything about it. Hmm....
2) The conference appears to be held in May, but the site refers repeatedly to a cruise in October. Earlier, the A's were gossiped about going on a cruise & a spokesperson said it wasn't for leisure. It was then dismissed b/c no further info - could this be it? If so, it's in October which is when the trial is set to begin. Hmph.
3) The only info I could find on Melanie' Rieger's death is on a link that no longer is active or was removed:

Melanie Rieger, 19, of Waterbury, Connecticut, was strangled to death in her family home by her boyfriend of 3 and 1/2 years, Joe� Crespo. Melanie's parents were vacationing in Aruba at the time.
Crespo made it appear that Melanie had left town. He pawned several pieces of jewelry plus a camcorder. Crespo then rented a storage locker. Returning to the Rieger home, he placed Melanie in her brother's hockey equipment bag and placed that bag in four large black garbage bags which he tied with heavy tape. He then placed Melanie's body along with two bags containing clothing, pictures and other personal items in the storage bin. The remainder of the day he went about his schedule as if nothing had happened. The following morning he called our house pretending to leave a message on our answering machine asking Melanie where she had been and warning her not to do anything stupid. He then proceeded to a neighboring town with his brother-in-law. Along the way, Crespo asked where he might be able to hide a car. His brother-in-law became suspicious and Jos�, upon questioning, admitted to him that he had killed Melanie. He turned the keys to the storage locker over to an attorney who called the police. Crespo never spoke to the police, claiming that he had blacked out and could not remember anything. He claimed that he suffered from borderline psychiatric disorder and opted out of a jury trial in favor of a three judge panel. Fortunately, they did not believe his story.
Crespo was convicted of murder and sentenced to 60 years in prison.
4) My own opinion here - if I had to hear these people open their mouths, I'd prefer it to be AFTER a trial. Right now, they are just spouting off shit and hoping some of it will stick to KC's jail walls. If they have anything of substance to lend, let it be after a trial and we know the outcome & see how they react to that.
Of interest - Scott Peterson's parents vehemently defended & continue to defend his innocence. They aren't going out on speaking tours or obviously & outwardly manipulating this into a money making scheme or fame gathering agenda. And I can't stand that case - but they are clearly a notch higher than in this case. Argh.

Hi Everyone,,Whooohooo I have the next TWO days off..It will be like a mini vacation..I am so fucking excited about 2 days off..LOL ..I am tired..I love my job but damn I am to old for this shit!! :)
I am trying to shed the pounds I picked up during lent..It is so much harder to take it off than put it on..So anyway my co worker made me a homemade Raspberry Pie.. So much for shedding even an ounce..:)

I did see that Nell. He had lied to her (well, all of us really) about his book being fact-based the first time she had him on. When she found out what a liar he was, she had him back on and reamed him (his book was featured in her book club - and that was his really big mistake).
But I don't think she would be so confrontational with the Anthony's. Afterall, as bad as I hate them, they are victims. Big liars, but victims none-the-less. Even Nancy Grace is being mindful of their feelings, as best she can. I think it would be hard for Oprah to really confront them about Casey and argue with them about covering up for their daughter. In the end, I'm kind of glad that show won't be on. Oprah's smart enough to know they are not going to confess and confide in her that Casey did indeed kill their beautiful little granddaughter.
I would love to see them be forced to tell the truth, but it ain't gonna happen on Oprah. Too bad the CIA can't waterbaord them now that our fearless leader has outlawed torture. I'm awful to even wish that on someone, but I would love to see Casey and that whole family be forced to tell the truth about what happened to Caylee - once and for all. That baby deserves justice.

oh yeah - didnt the A's have their attorney file a motion (or respond in depositions) that they still needed time to grieve as "victtims" and they wouldnt be answering stuff? so they could "grieve"? and wasnt this done recently?

Thats who I thought of too Nell.I dont think she wouldve let them sit there and have a casey pep rally.I was hoping she would tear them a new ass.But Im sure they are going to show E1 their true colors between now and Oct when trial is.Starting tomorrow b/c they have absolutely no class what-so-ever.They dont understand the dynamics of them opening their mouths every 2 minutes and spewing their spawn is helping to turn the maybe .1% in the world that still agree with them,against them.I have no pity for g,lee,cindy or casey.I do feel for the baby CAYLEE,and extended family that saw through from the beginning.I cant imagine the great-grandparents what they must be going through at their age.People that old dont understand our world today and whats happened to it.They had the same crimes but not the publicity that goes along with it now.I said to my husband on 9/11 I was so happy my grand parents werent around to see that.They wouldnt have had a clue how to deal with it.So I do feel for CAYLEES great-grandparents and uncles ,aunts etc but the g,c,l,&c can kiss my ass I have no sympathy at all for that sludge mix of a family.
