Man apparently killed for killing cat

MOSES LAKE, Wash. —

Authorites in Grant County say a dispute over a dead kitten led to the beating death of a man.

Deputies arrested two men and two teenagers from Coulee City and Soap Lake Wednesday and charged them with second-degree murder in the death of Jeff A. Smith, 49. He was found dead in his home Oct. 12.

Officials believe the four severely beat Smith on Oct. 10 after learning he'd killed a kitten one had given to him the previous day. Grant County Undersheriff John Turley said Smith was found dead in his bed two days after the assault, likely the result of head trauma.

Apparently the cat wasn't the only one that was unamused. Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I can't say I have a lot of sympathy for this fuck. If he didn't like the kitten he could have given it back.

I would have beaten the shit out of him too. Someone gives you a pet, and you kill it the next day? You deserve to be beaten. If it ends in death, oh well. I wish people would value the lives of animals as much as humans. I mean, if a murderer and child rapist can be treated with respect, why can't these animals be treated the same. The animals are definitely better beings than rapists and murderers.
