Underage Driver Trying To Help Mom Crashes Car Into Home

MONTVERDE, Fla. -- A teenager trying to help out her mother who's in a wheelchair left a giant hole in the side of her house. The 14-year-old girl was driving the family car when she accidentally drove it right into the house on Arabian Way in Montverde.

The girl was driving the car around the house to pick up her wheelchair-bound mother when she accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake and drove right through what used to be a sliding glass door.

"And the car just continued on and hit the front door and glass everywhere," Grant Duncan said. "Close call!"

Despite the damage to his home, Duncan is thankful because his wheelchair-bound wife is still alive.

"When the car hit the wheelchair, it spun it around instead of knocking it over and, of course, the car came through at an angle. If it would have come straight through, it would have crushed her," he said.

I'm glad the Mom and daughter were all right.

As the adult, you need to have more common sense than to let a 14 y/o drive a car!!!!! She's damn lucky she didn't kill someone!!!!

She was only driving it around the side of the house so mom could load in easier. Now mom will have an easier time getting in and out of the house... what with the new bigger door hole.

I'm glad mom wasn't in the way.

Nice to see a teen doing something nice for her grandma instead of beating her to a bloody pulp...well, I guess she could have crusher her, but still it's the thought.

Glad both are alive to tell the tale a zillion times.
