Charles Schultz, 27, of North Pole, AK, left the local tittie bar in Fairbanks and hopped in his car and drove off. No big deal except for the fact he was more than tipsy. He later shown to have a blood-alcohol content of .166 which probably explains this:
As good old Charlie was tootling along the highway, one of Alaska's finest pulled him over.
The officer must have told Charlie that he was driving a stolen car, because Charlie told him it was HIS Chevy Cavalier and everything was fine.
Charlie was probably shocked to learn he was actually driving a Ford Escort.
Seems the other guy at the gentlemans club wasn't as drunk as Charlie and noticed right away that his car was gone. The swift-eyed officer spotted it and nabbed Charlie.
Poor Charlie has no memory of taking the wrong car - but I bet no one is going to let him forget it.
