The 28-year-old son of a Winchester middle school principal who worked as a teacher’s aide at the school was indicted yesterday for several child-sex crimes that prosecutors say stem from years of salacious computer chats and nude picture swaps with underage girls.
Christopher French, 28
, is accused of child rape, two counts of child enticement, four counts of posing a child in the nude, possession of child pornography and other charges. He was arrested in June and arraigned on a single count of child rape, but a search of his computer revealed French - who also worked as a soccer coach in town - had contact with as many as six girls between the ages of 13 and 17, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone told reporters. “We allege that he engaged in a pattern of grooming these young, impressionable girls through a series of inappropriate online conversations.”
Since at least 2005, when he was a teacher’s aide, French chatted with young girls online, prosecutors said. He contacted one girl on her MySpace [website] page, where they began a series of instant-messaging conversations, Leone said. Eventually the girl invited French to her home, where he raped her, prosecutors said.
As recently as April, two months prior to his arrest, prosecutors said French attempted to entice a 13-year-old to meet him in woods near her home to fool around. Prosecutors said while none of the arranged meetings happened, French continued his online pursuit, including sending the girl a questionnaire with sexually explicit questions.
