Matthew Fox like, killed his mother

Matthew Fox, a 19-year old from Lincoln is being held in the murder of his mother, Sherry Fox. Her body was found Saturday night inside her home near 25th and E Street.

It was her son who reportedly confessed to the crime. "He was like I think you need to call the cops, and I was like why, and he's all cause I think I did something bad," says neighbor Uriel Castendal. A frantic Fox knocked on Castendal's door asking him to call 911. He thought it was a prank. Then, Fox came back again, this time Castendal's friend opened the door. "He's like I got blood spatter on me and he opened up his coat a little bit then he lifted up his thing and he was like I got blood splatter on my ankle," says Travon Street.

Neigbhors eventually called 911 and Fox was arrested. He is being held on first degree murder charges. According to police, he has no criminal history.

Neighbors describe him as being drunk or on drugs when he approached them.

Police believe Sherry Fox was killed by blunt force trauma. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

And the witness/neighbor. Wonder what he was like smokin' and all....

I sat through Party of 5 once. It was painful....

According to the affidavit officers went inside the Fox residence and found Sherry Fox lying on the floor in the basement, surrounded by blood. Officers noticed a large indentation and laceration to her forehead and a bloody axe near the body.
The court documents also noted a club with a metal end was found nearby.

The autopsy showed Fox had several sharp force injuries that could have been caused by a knife as well as the head laceration.

During the search warrant officers collected 36 knives, a drywall saw, a machete, sword, bayonet, fillet knife and 2 pocket knives along with the axe and club.

Police also collected a notebook with writings that detail a fictional account of a murder and serial killings and a book on philosophy.
