A 33-year-old Redmond man whose young son fell out of a second-story window two months ago is behind bars on charges he violated his probation for having child pornography on his computer, police said Thursday.
James Lee Shorts was taken into custody after a search warrant was executed at his Southwest Wickiup Court home on Monday, Redmond police Lt. Gary DeKorte said.
Shorts' probation officer was alerted to images being on his computer that violated terms of his probation, DeKorte said.
"He was allowed to go in by a member of the household," to confirm what was alleged, DeKorte said, and the search warrant was sought and executed shortly thereafter.
"We did it because it was alleged that he had uploaded or downloaded pictures that violated his probation," the lieutenant said, adding that a forensic examiner would be examining what was on the seized computer.
Shorts remained at the Deschutes County Jail in Bend on Thursday, held without bail on the probation violation charge and on $45,000 bail for two counts of encouraging sex abuse, one second-degree and the other third-degree, a jail officer said.
