PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Police arrested a Homewood woman Wednesday night on charges she abandoned her baby daughter. Police said 24-year-old LaFawn Ebo was arrested following extensive interviews.

Ebo is accused of leaving her 2-week old child in a car seat on Felicia Way behind the Kentucky Fried Chicken in Homewood around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

According to police, Ebo had arranged to meet the baby's father in Felicia Way so he could take custody of the child.

Ebo allegedly placed the car seat in the street after seeing the father and left in a car with her cousin. A passing driver spotted the infant sitting in the car seat and called 911.

While the caller waited for officers to arrive, police said Ebo's cousin returned to Felicia Way and asked the driver to give her custody of the baby girl.

The driver refused and police took the infant to Children's Hospital for an evaluation. Police said the baby was unharmed and in good health.

WTF??? LEAVE the baby in the STREET? How could she? If I were the cousin I would NOT have picked her up without that baby. Thank God somebody REALLY stepped up to the plate on this one. If they had given the baby back there is no telling what this crazy bitch would have done next.

According to the one story they were not even sure the baby's father was even there or that he was supposed to be picking up the baby.
I think she was ditching the child and there never was arrangments to meet the father. That is bullshit I mean who sees someone coming and sits a baby down and drives off that shit just sounds stupid.

She just wanted to continue to go get twisted and party and not care for the baby.
I Pray she and the Dad sign over parental rights and allow this little one to be adopted to a home that will love her or him.

Homewood man also accused of abandoning infant

A Homewood man has been arrested in connection with the abandonment last week of an infant behind a neighborhood restaurant.

William Clark, 37, the father of the 2-week-old baby, was arrested this morning on a charge of child endangerment.

He is being held in the Allegheny County Jail pending arraignment.

The child's mother, LaFawn Ebo, 24, also of Homewood, was arrested Wednesday after another woman found the baby girl abandoned in its car safety seat behind a KFC on Felicia Way.

She said she left the baby there at about 2 p.m. because she saw Mr. Clark nearby, police said. He was expected to retrieve the child, Ms. Ebo told police, so the mother rode away in a car with her cousin.

Ms. Ebo also is charged with child endangerment.

The woman who found the baby immediately called police, and the infant was taken by medics to Children's Hospital.

Ms. Ebo is held on $50,000 bond, pending a preliminary hearing scheduled tomorrow.
