Lunch lady found dead in school freezer

Essex, UK - Linda Gent, 55, was found at South Benfleet Primary on the evening of Saturday 27 September, 15 hours after she was reported missing.

Initial post-mortem tests failed to establish a cause of death but police said they were not treating her death as suspicious.

Police said they found Mrs Gent's body after being contacted by someone concerned for her welfare.

Children 'devastated'

A police spokesman said: "A search of the school was carried out and shortly after 1800 BST a woman's body was found on the premises."

Mrs Gent had worked at the school since the late 1980s and staff and children were said to be "devastated".

"Everyone connected with South Benfleet Primary School has been devastated by the sudden death of Linda Gent, our school cook," said head Dominic Carver.

"Mrs Gent was a hugely popular and highly-valued member of our catering team."

Officials at education authority Essex County Council said news of Mrs Gent's death was broken to pupils after they arrived at school on 29 September.

I know a number of men that think most women are "frigid" if they don't give it up daily...

But, this women in the freezer shit has got to be stopped!

Hmmm, not suspicious but yet no confirmation on how she died. That's sad and my prayers go out to her family. I hope they offer the students some type of counseling if they are taking it this hard. Bless their hearts!

A dinner lady died after apparently locking herself in a school freezer after becoming distressed over a credit card bill.

Linda Gent, 55, who suffered from manic depression, is believed to have climbed into the chest freezer and pulled the lid down after spending £400 on the card.

Pills were also found by the side of her body. Mr Gent, 59, said his wife had never attempted suicide before and that he was 'totally shocked' when police officers arrived at his home to break the news.

'Linda was a manic depressive and she had been taking pills just before she died,' he added. 'The only thing I can think of that may have pushed her to her death was we have a £400 credit card bill. It had played on her mind.

'Although we were paying it off at the rate of £100 a month she hated the fact that we were in debt.'

That is so sad ....Didn't she realize she just added another bill to her husband..A funeral is expensive...People need to think it through a little more before commiting suicide..I know that sounds stupid when they are feeling so down but ...Yes you are done out of this life but what about what you leave behind..One of my best friends sons just killed himself he was pissed at his soon to be X wife..He did it out of anger..Hung himself..His mother found him how horrible!! Now his kids have to grow up without a father..It is just so sad people get to that point...

I wonder what they will do with all that frozen food.

She really should've been more considerate to the kids at her school and taken care of business at home. Now the lunch room will get the reputation as been haunted by lunch lady Linda, and the kids will have nightmares.
