A settlement has been reached in a defamation suit filed against a former Clermont County commissioner by the parents of a toddler who died in a hot vehicle.
Archie Wilson was being sued for defamation by Brenda and Gary Slaby. The Slaby's daughter died in 2007 after Brenda left her in a hot car.
Clermont County Prosecutor Don White did not file charges because he determined the death was an accident and there was no evidence of abuse.
The Slaby's suit claimed candidate Archie Wilson had been telling people the death was staged to cover-up child abuse. Wilson was running for commission, against Scott Croswell who was the Slaby's attorney.
The suit claimed Wilson accused Croswell of conspiring with Prosecutor White to cover-up the crime. Terms of the settlement have not been disclosed.
Archie Wilson told Local 12 he never made the statements alleged by the Slaby's.
The Slaby's attorney, Stan Chesley, said he has sworn statements from four people saying otherwise.
Last month, Wilson pled guilty to soliciting prostitution and drug possession. Wilson was sentenced to 30 days in jail on each count, but he won't have to serve any time if he stays out of trouble.
