Home administrator accused of stealing from man, 91

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. -- The administrator of an assisted living facility in Johnstown is accused of stealing more than $50,000 from a 91-year-old resident's bank account.

Forty-two-year-old Debra Zilch was charged yesterday with theft, receiving stolen property and forgery. Police say Ms. Zilch stole the resident's checkbook from his room and wrote 20 checks to herself between May and August. Police say the checks were written for between $1,000 and $6,000.

Ms. Zilch is co-owner of the Specialy LifeCare Service assisted living facility in Johnstown.

Police say Ms. Zilch admitted to the elderly man she had taken his money. They say she signed and notarized a note promising to pay back the money at a rate of $2,000 a month.

She'll have paid the money back in 25 months. The man is 90, 25 months is a long time.
