She's clearly unprepared, so it's smart to limit her ability to blunder publically. In fact, although it's not inexperience, I wish they'd do that to Biden. He's known especially for his gaffes, and has been blundering left and right.

Actually I don't care one way or the other. I am however confused as to what you personally have against this woman. Just asking.

    • Inexperience
    • Her image
    • Blatant hypocrisy
    • Her ignorance
    • Lack of (valid) education
    • Corruption (abuse of power)

^ Top six that come to mind. In my opinion they should hide her for the rest of the campaign...she's already done enough disaster. Sure, she was a media frenzy, but now that it's died down she has relatively nothing to offer to both America and its government. Just my two cents...

Actually, I don't think she's qualified to be considered anything on the national level. I feel a lot of other good candidates got fucked out of the situation due to political games because many thought Obama would pick Clinton, something Palin mentioned.

Also, all the earmarks, and other issues she has encountered while as mayor, and governor.

    But it's really the glasses.
It has been my understanding that the VP is just there for show....Even when that VP wears glasses...

Who cares? She is gonna be the hottest president ever!

Oh, and this is a smart move. As Athena already stated, they should do this with Biden as well.

Campbell Brown has an interesting take on it:

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Frankly I have had it, and I know a lot of other women out there who are with me on this. I have had enough of the sexist treatment of Sarah Palin. It has to end.

She was in New York on Tuesday meeting with world leaders at the U.N. And what did the McCain campaign do?

They tried to ban reporters from covering those meetings. And they did ban reporters from asking Gov. Palin any questions.

I call upon the McCain campaign to stop treating Sarah Palin like she is a delicate flower who will wilt at any moment.

This woman is from Alaska for crying out loud. She is strong, she is tough, she is confident. And you claim she is ready to be one heartbeat away from the presidency. If that is the case, then end this chauvinistic treatment of her now. Allow her to show her stuff.

Allow her to face down those pesky reporters just like Barack Obama did today, just like John McCain did today. Just like Joe Biden has done on numerous occasions. Let her have a real news conference with real questions.

By treating Sarah Palin differently from other candidates in this race, you are not showing her the respect she deserves.

    Free Sarah Palin.

Free her from the chauvinistic chains you are binding her with.

Sexism in this campaign must come to an end. Sarah Palin has as much a right to be a real candidate in this race as the men do.

So let her act like one.
Man, I wish I would have written that! (Except I do not believe she is strong and confident and competent, but besides that part!)

Fuck Campbell Brown. I just commented on this over at Pushback an hour or so ago. Nothing pisses me off more than a bitch who cries "sexism!" about anything. It dilutes the very serious charge of sexism and insults women who have actually dealt with it.

They're not treating her like she's delicate, they're treating her like she's unprepared...which she is. She's not used to the national spotlight, not familiar with all the things she ought to be familiar with, and they're trying to limit her potential to do irreparable damage. They'd do this with ANY candidate hand-plucked from Bumfuck Egypt, USA - male OR female. It's political, not gender oriented.

Campbell Brown is just another hack with dwindling credibility.

It's the gender-card...feminism is relatively new, I highly doubt there's one-side to the discussion. He's just playing the card (or rather, the entire Republican campaign is).

CNN’s Campbell Brown has a really good point about how the McCain campaign has done a really good job of denying interviews or responses to the press–suggesting that she’s a “delicate flower” unable to stand up to the big mean press. I have to say I agree. Let Palin answer questions. Doesn’t seem hard.
I disagree. Her inexperience and lack of knowledge is glaringly obvious in every single interview she's ever done. It has nothing to do with her sex...but everything to do with her lack of qualification and inability to deliver what's expected of a running mate. Wasn't Todd Palin a back-seat governor anyway?

I just don't understand people who think it's ok that the VP they are supporting is allowed to act this way. I think the news channels should boycott Palin. They aren't there to make for a good photo op. She has to answer questions. That's part of her job as running mate, for god's sake! If Biden was pulling that shit, I'd be up his ass too. It's not acceptable from anyone running for public office. Period.

For Campbell Brown, I believe her comment had a hidden purpose. She was turning the sexist card BACK on the Republican party. They have been crying sexism from the media from the very moment since she was announced as McCain's running mate! Now, the media wants to interview her, wants to get her perspective, and they are hiding her away. Good on Campbell to cry sexism right back on their stupid asses. Two can play that game.

Sarah Palin is a hack. She's a farce. All the attention she gets is comical. We need to focus more on McCain. If you really look at his voting record and his lack of knowledge on anything, it's terrifying.

That's fine, but the Republicans should have thought of that before they nominated her unprepared, uneducated ass. I agree that there are no sexist intentions, but the Republicans made a big mistake in hastily picking Palin to get women voters. They made their beds, they have to lie in it (and lying is what they are good at).

How very idealistic of you. You and I both know that they picked Palin for a look, not as the result of substance. :)

Oh, so two wrongs make a right, now? And we wonder why politics lacks integrity...

Well, sure. But as you can gather from the amount of traffic Three Things gets, the nitty gritty of politics is uninteresting to the vast majority of the public. Media outlets have their ratings to worry about, you know.

Who says they didn't think of it before hand. I can guarantee that they thought of every scenario and their actions to each...including this one. Picking Palin was the smartest thing they could have done. Obama picking Biden was the dumb move between the two candidates. Now, with articles like Brown's, McCain will get all the "sexist pig" females to rally! Yessssss! Yessssss!

McCain still has this election. As for the Republicans lying...come on...seriously? They are politicians. They ALL lie...It doesn't matter what animal is on the flag they wave.

I don't know, Morbid...I really think Obama has this election. With all of the bullshit that's gone on over the last 8 years, including the mishandling of wars, Katrina and now, the economy (people are increasingly unhappy about this bailout), I find it hard to believe people are going to vote for a man who voted in line with Bush policy over 90% of the time. And, with Palin being held back, she'll be unable to generate the momentum they had hoped for. Polls are already showing that the bump McCain got from Palin has quickly dissipated. It'll be close, but I just don't think the Republicans will be able to pull this one out.

Who knows, though. That's what I thought the last two elections. But the American public never ceases to baffle me.

I viewed it more as an act of desperation...their campaign was arguably sinking. Obama didn't take Hillary, which was somewhat unexpected (in my opinion). Instead the Republicans turned this on him as if he didn't pick her out of "sexism"; so McCain went ahead and picked a woman. Probably the most uneducated, inexperienced and ignorant woman one has seen in politics in a long time.

Why didn't he pick Mary Jodi Rell? She's qualified. She's from a New England state...which is nice, considering no one really gives a shit about Alaska. I think the sexism went full circle and that Athena is right. She was picked because of her looks, her family-appeal, capitalizing on her potential celebrity. The Republican party has arguably been sexist from the beginning, starting with Hillary Clinton running for president all the way to choosing Sarah Palin because she "appeals" to certain demographics.

Unfortunately intelligent people can see through Palin and the Republican campaign. What that says about winning is a whole other discussion...

I don't care why they picked her. We shouldn't bend to their wants during this election. All candidates are grilled hard during every election. She should not be immune. They already changed the format of the VP debates for her, which is just idiotic. She should put up or shut up. That's all.

McCain still has this election. As for the Republicans lying...come on...seriously? They are politicians. They ALL lie...It doesn't matter what animal is on the flag they wave.
McCain does not have this election. I am just curious why people would vote for him and Palin? What does he have to offer as president? He voted with Bush 90% of the time. He calls himself a maverick, but he's done nothing to earn that title. A true maverick wouldn't pander to the political party he's affiliated with, he's look for new, different avenues to get things done. He hasn't done that. With the economy in the shitter now, I am suprised people even entertain electing a man who is so far gone on the reality of the situation.

You know it's bad when republican pundits are calling McCain a bad choice. They didn't even do that with Bush four years ago.

Polls mean nothing to me at this stage...even had it shown that McCain was leading. Like I told Athena...remember that I called it. The American voter never let's me down! Come on Racists, Christians, Females, Whitey, Muslim-phobiacs! To the polls! lol!

Oh, I agree with you, it's just an unrealistic expectation. After all, this is politics.

Well, I'm a white christian female and I will be at the polls. Not voting for McCain and Palin.

Hmmm...if they lose, you have to make a YouTube video of yourself singing the "I Love You" song from hell. And post a link of it on the FP!!!!!

    The "I love you" song?

While I'm absolutely enthralled by the idea of Morbid singing, well...anything, I think, if he loses, he should have to spring to steam clean the couch. I mean, that would benefit everyone.

Oh, and if you lose, you and I will wrestle in jello, tape it, and post a link here in Three Things. You're "progressive", right? ;)

So, as it stands right now...and I have not agreed to anything yet, mind you...I must sing I Love You by Climax Blues Band and wrestle Athena in jello.

And if YOU lose? What do I get for that? Oh, and for all of you not in the know, this song played at my wedding. Hate it like I do:

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qx3V18-KTdA"]YouTube - Climax Blues Band ~ I Love You[/ame]

    OOOooooooooooohhhhhhhhhh I love you!!!

Wait..I thought my punishment for losing was wrestling Athena in Jello and taping it?? That's hardly a punishment, though. Just give me a few months to tighten up a few areas around the ass region.

LMAO...My thoughts exactly, Katyk. I've made it my mission to lose a size by Halloween, so I figure I'll be good by the elections, since it's still pre-Thanksgiving. So, the only real question is:

    Cherry or lime?

Let's do a mixture! And none of that sugar free shit. I want the real deal. Enough to make Bill Cosby proud. It won't happen anyway. Hope you're warming up those vocal cords, Morb!

I am there with you on the diet plan. I have been slacking big time on it. Back on track this weekend, now that my mouth is all healed and I'm not on pain pills.

Glad to hear it. That procedure sounded nightmarish.

I've been slackin' too. At my apartment, I lived within walking distance of my gym. I moved, though, and am nowhere near a 24hr Fitness anymore. I couldn't justify the trip with the gas prices and all, so I cancelled my membership. I bought some kickboxing videos that are awesome, though, so I'll be good by Halloween.

Cherry and lime, huh? Sure! Why not!

Wait...is there a blue jello? Red and blue would be more appropriate...
