Man bites woman's ear; dog bites man

Shelby, NC - A 6-foot-tall, intoxicated man allegedly bit off part of an ear of a female acquaintance Sunday, officials said.

Brian Lashion McClain, 23, of Stoney Point Road, was arrested and charged with maiming without malice and assault inflicting serious bodily injury, according to a report by Shelby Police Ptl. M.B. Watson.

McClain was intoxicated, according to the police report.

Officials were dispatched Sunday morning to Lenoir Drive in reference to a possible rape in progress. When they arrived, they found a 21-year-old woman covered in blood.

Authorities spoke with a witness who said the woman and McClain began fighting in the street over responsible parenting practices.

"They were separated by (the witness) momentarily and then they began fighting again and (McClain) pulled the victim up close and bit part of her ear off and spit it in the floor," Watson wrote.

McClain then fled the scene, a witness told Watson. But McClain couldn't outrun Zane, a Sheriff's Office K-9.

"A short time later, the suspect arrived at the hospital for treatment of a K-9 bite to his right foot," Watson wrote.

McClain was denied bond, his arrest report read.

Seriously, I worry about the well-being of ANY children involved. I do NOT want to see this couple again front paged when they have an injured, "missing" or dead child.

I'd say they flunked and need to re-take that parenting class.
