RICHARDSON, Texas -- A man accused of fatally stabbing a woman he mistook for his former wife was arrested and charged with murder Friday, Richardson police said.
Police said Juan Seghelmeble confronted Gladys Rivera, a 48-year-old Dallas resident, in the 500 block of South Coit Road."He happened to be driving down the street when he saw the victim, believed it was his ex-wife, and he confronted her and stabbed her multiple times," police spokesman Quentin Rasco said.
Police said Seghelmeble pulled a knife from his pocket and stabbed her several times. Rivera, a mother of six, had been walking home from the Richardson Italian restaurant where she worked.
She died at the scene.Investigators said he told police he thought was killing his former wife, but Rivera and Seghelmeble had never met before.
Investigators said Seghelmbele will undergo a mental evaluation.
He is being held on a $250,000 bond.
