Sarah Palin and War with Russia

(The title is misleading by the way.)

Sarah Palin is war hungry as usual...she doesn't appear intelligent at all in her latest interview:

At times visibly nervous, at others appearing to hew so closely to prepared answers that she used the exact same phrases repeatedly, Ms. Palin most visibly stumbled when she was asked by Mr. Gibson if she agreed with the Bush doctrine. Ms. Palin did not seem to know what he was talking about.
Whaaat?! You don't know his doctrine? Really now? You may not have a degree in politics, and only a Bachelor's of Journalism (lol, credentials), but you should have at least known his ridiculous policies. Here's a start:

“I base a lot of my foreign policy decisions on some things that I think are true,” (he said.) “One, I believe there’s an Almighty....” - George W. Bush

Ms. Palin was particularly forceful in discussing Russia, saying its incursion into Georgia earlier this summer was “unprovoked,” a description that some foreign policy analysts have argued with. But, pronouncing the name of the Georgian president, Mikheil Saakashvili, with perfect pitch, she avoided a question that has bedeviled experts on Eastern European affairs: what the United States can or should do to “restore Georgian sovereignty” over its separatist regions.

“We’ve got to keep an eye on Russia,” she said, then repeated the phrase.

She expressed full support for the induction of Georgia and Ukraine into the NATO alliance, which has prompted strong Russian protest. The position is shared by Mr. McCain, Mr. Obama and Mr. Obama’s running mate, Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr.

Ms. Palin acknowledged that such membership could require the United States to join militarily in defense of Georgia if Russia was to move against it again.
    - Does she know Israel is equally radical in contrast to their Muslim counterparts? It may have a sense of civility, but I for one would certainly "second-guess" Israel. They have the same hateful ideology against others in the Arab world.
-"I'm ready" - Palin says, even although she does not know Bush's foreign policy when questioned.

The McCain campaign has kept Ms. Palin away from reporters and off the interview circuit traditionally traveled by vice-presidential nominees, but was under pressure to place her before a nationally recognized journalist.
    Yeah, because she's an idiot.

Does anyone think NATO accepting Georgia is a bad idea? I do. War with Russia is simply impossible and it cannot occur, even if Georgia is in NATO. It isn't worth the risk, Georgia is insignificant. America, of course, will defiantly object to diplomacy (I say that because both presidential candidates have agreed to protect Georgia at all costs) and the EU will not assist. I think Pete said something similar earlier as well, or maybe it was Athena...hmmm. It was in regards to the EU being rather un-useful. I suppose we now know Palin's stance though: Militarily support Georgia.

We know I'm down with protecting democratic allies. I would prefer to settle things diplomatically and am not a fan of anything preemptive or all the bullshit posturing that's being done on both sides, but Russia doesn't appear too open to diplomatic solutions, and they taunt us. Besides, no organization has much leverage, diplomatically. If they do anything to legitimately threaten Georgia's sovergnty, there needs to be consequence.
"Now that ceaseless exposure has calloused us to the lewd and the vulgar, it is instructive to see what still seems wicked to us. What still slaps the clammy flab of our submissive consciousness hard enough to get our attention?"

We'll see how "ready" she is during the debates. I've got a feeling that she will have to deviate from her scripted/practiced responses when the questions are asked and she has to debate them with Biden.

With Alaska's proximity to Russia I'll bet there's some interesting jokes circling around the Kremlin about how the little soccer mom from Alaska is going kick their asses. Ok,

I am looking forward to it. I hope someone records it (like a stenographer?) so people can read it...can't stand watching her speak.

    Georgia is insignificant.
    In 1931, Manchuria was insignificant.

In 1936, the militarisation of The Rhineland was insignificant.

In 1937, the Nanjing Massacre was insignificant.

    In 1939, Czechoslovakia was insignificant.

When does this aggression become significant...when the Russians invade Alaska? I would rather not let it go that far.

I meant in terms of (Western) self-interest.
