The Greenfield Police Department is investigating the reported rapes of a 10-year old girl and her friend by a relative. The charges came while police were looking into another reported rape of the 10-year-old, according to an affidavit of complaint.

Wayne Edward Hicks, 61, has been charged with rape of a child, incest and aggravated statutory rape. He is accused of having oral sex with the 10-year-old girl, who is a relative, and her 14-year-old friend, according to the affidavit.

On Sept. 1, Junior Thomas Jenkins, 43, was arrested in a reported sexual assault of the 10-year-old girl after physical evidence was found in a clay pit and Jenkins' cell phone, according to the Weakley County Sheriff's Department.

Both cases are under investigation by the state Department of Children's Services and the 10-year-old girl is no longer at the Greenfield residence, according to police.

Statements given by the two girls indicate that Hicks sexually abused them, the affidavit said.

Jenkins and Hicks remained in the Weakley County Detention Center Tuesday on $250,000 bond and $150,000 bond respectively.

A Greenfield man faces a charge of child rape after an investigation by two local agencies revealed he allegedly sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl from Weakley County.

Junior Thomas Jenkins, 43, was arrested at his home on Kimery Levee Road Monday, Sept. 1, according to a press release issued by the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department.

An affidavit cites Jenkins allegedly had sex with the 10 year old at a clay pit on Liberty Road on Sunday. The child was able to lead investigators to the scene where they apparently found physical evidence linking Jenkins to the crime. Investigators with the WCSD as well as the Greenfield Police Department also found evidence from a cell phone owned by Jenkins, according to the press release. The child and Jenkins knew one another and were seen together in a vehicle at a convenience store in Greenfield prior to the incident that day.
