Jason Scott Ward has a broken 6-week-old

COLOMA TOWNSHIP — A 6-week-old girl is hospitalized with multiple fractures and her father has been arrested after police say he confessed to injuring her.

Jason Scott Ward, 34, of Coloma, has been charged with first degree child abuse and faces up to 15 years in prison.

Officers were called to the Watervliet Emergency Room on Saturday around noon, where they learned the girl was transferred to a Kalamazoo hospital in critical condition.

The girl had a fractured skull, two broken ribs, a broken and dislocated right arm near the elbow, a broken leg, a broken finger, a broken toe, and numerous bruises on her body.

She has been taken into protective custody by Child Protective Services pending a hearing to determine parental rights.

A Coloma Township man is facing charges after police say he confessed to severely injuring his 6 week-old daughter.

Officers were called to the home of 34 year-old Jason Scott Ward on Saturday to find the baby girl with a fractured skull, broken ribs, a broken and dislocated arm, broken toes, a broken leg, and several bruises. Ward's charged with first degree child abuse, as well as delivery of a controlled substance. Coloma Police say that hospital doctors told them it looked as though the baby's leg had been broken for at least two weeks prior to the additional incident on Saturday...and Ward admitted to giving the girl a crushed-up Vicodin pill in a bottle to make her stop crying from that injury.

Ward was araigned Monday, and bond was set at 200-thousand dollars. It's not clear where the baby's mother is, and Child Protecive Services is investigating, along with police.

Forget "delivery of a controlled substance".
How about intentional poisoning or attempted murder?

There is NOTHING a baby that young can do to piss someone off. I find it so hard to believe that these fuckers can muster enough anger to injure a newborn that way.

Babies that age cry because they are hungry, wet or in pain. That's it. Respond to the first two needs and chances are, the baby will quiet down.

If the baby is in pain, breaking its legs is not gonna help at all. What the hell is so hard about that?

Just walk away people. Walk away.

Something tells me that this asshole was just uncaring. 34 is old enough to know better. He probably injured that baby because he resented it in some way. Especially if the mom wasn't around to help care for it.

the solution to that is simple enough. Don't want a baby? Keep your penis in your pants - another thing a 34 year old should already know.

How about you have people with thoughts of torturing their kid to call CPS and tell them - "I am about to hurt my baby - please send her to gun totin' liberal or any of the kind ladies at Dreamin' Demon to care for - Thank you."
No charges filed, no harm no foul- hell I'll even vote to give them a few thousand bucks for their trouble. I am glad the girl made it.

Check out the pic- he looks like a meth user to me. Could he have hallucinated and then hurt the baby? Cuz you're right Kathy, there's nothing a newborn baby can do to seriously piss you off. Silver lining- at least the little girl wasn't sexually assaulted.

The only thing a 6 week old baby does is eat, sleep, pee and poo.

Short of illness or bad bouts of colic, babies of that age are pretty "easy" to take care of.

What Jason and Barbie need is to be shot in the calves, scalped, and anally raped with a hot spiked poker, while they are trying to crawl away. This is their 6th,...yes 6th child that has been removed from them!!! And Barbie has not once ever done time! These sorry excuses of less than roaches are a prime example for the death penalty, sorry to say yes I know them.....they are friend's of my ex.....Please!! Please, can someone help to make sure they put her sorry ass in jail this time too? She was home, they waited over 24 hour to take that baby to the hospital, she said she heard the baby crying, but he wouldn't let her see the baby...BULLSHIT, I am Shaking so badly right now......my aunt worked on that baby for hours at the hospital......and they didn't even ..... just please go to the Herald palladium.com, go to the e-edition and read the rest of the articles....PLEASE

AFTER having FIVE children removed from them, Childrens Services didn't check on this one? I mean, WHERE did this innocent baby fall through the cracks and HOW?

According to the case file in Berrien County Trial Court, the girl had suffered a fractured skull, two broken ribs, a left leg fracture, a broken middle finger on her left hand and a fractured right big toe. She also had rectal injuries that suggest she might have been sexually abused. Coloma Police say that hospital doctors told them it looked as though the baby's leg had been broken for up to two weeks prior to the additional incident on Saturday,

ST. JOSEPH — On Aug. 6, Berrien County Trial Court Judge Thomas Nelson concluded that Barbara Lefevre was unfit to carry out her duties as mother to her five children.
The court was not aware of it at the time, but Lefevre had another child, a girl born July 11.
On Tuesday, Lefevre lost parental rights to the girl.
Again, Nelson made the decision.
Children’s Protective Services took the infant into custody Aug. 23 after Jason Ward , the child’s father and Lefevre’s live-in boyfriend, brutally beat the baby during a drug-induced haze at their Coloma Township home.
Lefevre, 28, pleaded no contest to the Michigan Department of Human Services’ effort to terminate her parental rights. The charge was based on her failure to protect the child as well as her welldocumented history with the department.
By pleading no contest, Lefevre did not have to state any facts about the incident. She let the record speak for itself.
Nelson called the evidence “clear and convincing” in support of terminating her parental rights.

I am happy that he got life,...but still VERY peeved that Barbie is walking around care-fucking-free. She needs to be punished in the same way the baby was treated.....6x over.
