WESTMINSTER – The Adams County Sheriff's office has arrested and charged a 28-year-old man in connection to the drowning death of an 18-month-old boy in a hot tub.


The sheriff's office charged Jarrod Michael Newsome with child abuse resulting in death and child abuse.

Investigators say the 18-month-old boy was found in a hot tub in the backyard of a home in the 8100 block of Welby Road in unincorporated Adams County on Aug. 12 around 12:30 p.m.

The boy was found by a woman who was picking up her dog from the home. The boy was airlifted to a nearby hospital where he stayed until he died on Aug. 19.

The boy and his 2-year-old sister had been left with Newsome, the children's uncle, while the boy's father ran errands.

Newsome turned himself in on Aug. 22 and was released after posting a $20,000 bond. He will appear in court on Sept. 25.

Jarrod Michael Newsome pleaded guilty to child abuse and manslaughter in the death of Kaden Shaun Newsome in an Adams County courtroom.

The judge set Newsome's sentencing for June 5th.
