10 y.o. girl charged w/sexual assault

Police have charged a 10-year-old New Holland girl with the sexual assault last month of two 4-year-old girls. No one younger has ever been charged with a sexual offense in Lancaster County, according to officials.

New Holland Detective Jonathan Heisse on Wednesday charged the girl with two counts of aggravated indecent assault for an incident that allegedly happened July 13.

The 10-year-old girl was at Lancaster County Youth Intervention Center Wednesday. She will be tried on the charges in juvenile court and is not eligible for release until she faces them.

A suspect must be at least 10 years old to be charged with a crime, officials said.

The victims also live in New Holland Borough, according to Heisse. They were staying at the 10-year-old's home for a sleepover when the assaults allegedly occurred, the detective said.

The 10-year-old allegedly fondled the younger girls and one of them required medical attention, police said.

The mother of one of the victims called New Holland police soon after the alleged assaults — about 1:30 the next morning, according to investigators.

yeah come on, that has to be learned I cannot for the life of me figure any other way...

Why don't they spend their resources getting that 10 year old the mental help and investigative resources to find what led up to this offense?

In order to enforce any sort of treatment, the state would have to investigate. Possibly charges were filed to force the parents into a situation. Or perhaps the 10yo is disturbed beyond indicated... after all, one child was molested to the point of needing medical attention - which could be anything from abrasions to mutilation. A very sick 10yo may require things beyond the scope of what the police felt DCF should/could/would deal with.

especially if the parents were in denial.

good point, thank you, it crushes me. my goodness these children are all victims. Those poor four year old girls, I wonder how much you can recover from something like that happening at that age.
