An unregistered child molester roaming the South Bay and downloading pornographic stories about sex with infants from public library computers was arrested in Long Beach, police said Tuesday.

Wynford Eugene Murray, 35, was taken into custody about 10:15 a.m. Monday on Pine Avenue, just south of Ocean Boulevard.

Someone who had seen Murray's face on a television news broadcast saw him sitting on the curb and called police, Redondo Beach police Sgt. Shawn Freeman said.

Murray was believed to be in Long Beach the past few days.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice's National Sex Offender Database, Murray was convicted in 1997 of sexually touching girls ages 3 and 5 in Syracuse, N.Y. He was sentenced to six months in jail and five years' probation.

He was required to register as a sex offender after his release, but failed to do so when he rode his bicycle to Virginia.

Murray left Virginia and made his way across the country to California.

Redondo Beach officers came in contact with him on July 14. Murray was living under the pier and used a fake name, and police did not
immediately know he was wanted by the Los Angeles Police Department, police said.

A $1 million warrant was later filed for his arrest, charging him with failing to register in Woodland Hills and Redondo Beach.

Police said they have evidence Murray used a Redondo Beach library to look up stories about having sex with children and babies.

So while this Dirt bag was peddling across the US he had access to children.
Can the police re-trace his steps to see if he left any victims in his wake?

Why leave it up to the offender to register?
Hell, write up the form and make him/her sign before leaving prison.
No signature, no release.

There needs to be mandatory sentencing for these sickos.

Babies? BABIES? I can't even begin to understand how someone could to this to children. It is seriously beyond my realm of thinking. But infants? Who are these sick people? How can you possibly be attracted to a CHILD? This guy should never be allowed out of jail.
