This is really sad. It seems weird that she would try to get custody of them and then abuse them. I would guess, although absolutely no excuse, she was a little in over her head, just a guess....

DAYTON, Ohio -- The Montgomery County Grand Jury has indicted 22-year-old Kimberly Cook for the murder of her 3-year-old sister and the abuse of her 6-year-old brother.

The charges include murder, endangering children resulting in serious physical harm, felonious assault resulting in serious physical harm, and endangering children resulting in torture and abuse.

Cook is charged with the July 20th death of Hope Cook, her half-sister, by physically abusing her in their mobile home in Trotwood. Heck said Cook had been granted custody of Hope, and her 6-year-old brother in September of 2007.

The 3-year-old died at Children's Medical Center from skull fractures caused by blunt force trauma to her head. In addition, Cook is also accused of physically abusing her brother.

Prosecuting Attorney Mat Heck, Jr. said, "The death of any child is tragic, but it is made even more so when the death is at the hands of a family member. In this case, the defendant was granted custody of the victims in order to protect them and keep them safe. She now faces the possibility of incarceration for the rest of her life for killing this little girl and cruelly abusing her brother."

Cook is being held in the Montgomery County Jail.

Preble County Juvenile Court Judge Wilfrid Dues approved the placement of Hope and her half-brother, Dexter, 6, with Cook-Terrill after their biological father, Michael W. Cook, 45, was imprisoned for attempted rape and gross sexual imposition.

Cook-Terrill's grandmother, Violet Cook, believes Preble County Children Services is to blame for the child's death.

"They should have been aware of Kimberly's past," Violet Cook said. "She was an abused child herself."

Hope and Dexter were taken away because Helen [their mother] was drinking and driving with them in the car. Shortly after that, they found drugs in the house.. then they got my dad for sexual abuse. I personally don't believe my father was guilty of anything but thats neither here nor there. Kim's mom told my dad from kim's birth that he was not her father and therefore he wasn't involved in her life. Hope and Dexter didn't come to me and my mother because I was in high school and they aren't related to my mom. As of Violet Cook's comments, she has already told the family several times that she thinks Kim did it. I guess when the media comes she thought the family should ban together. I disagree. I have lost two sisters. One to death and one to jail. This leaves me in the middle facing the facts. Hope was gorgeous... and it's hard to have to face the facts that she really is gone.

We haven't got to see Dexter because they are keeping him sheltered. We have recieved information from the court that it is official that when they took him from the household he had been beat and battered. They are getting him set up with the same adoptive family that my other brother Shawn is with. My mother and I tried to get Dexter but Preble County says it's better for him to be with his brother because they are closer in age. I agree with this decision. I just really want to see him once things get settled. Dexter testified to the grand jury about two weeks ago and that is partially why her bond got raised. It's hard to get online here when strangers are saying things about my family when it's obvious that they don't know us at all. I just want the trial to be quick and be over with. I really hate being in this position...


some other information I feel like the common person needs to know about whats going on... My dad didn't get a phone call about Hope's death.. He turned on the tv Sunday evening and had to see it on the evening news.. AND KIM planned the funeral. She was the "guardian" at the time of death.. Hope died on Sunday and on Thursday she had already planned the funeral. The family hadn't even had time to think about the tradegy that had happened. It was a very over the top funeral.. probably the most ridiculous one I had ever been to. Kim had only had Hope for the past 10 months approximately.. and she had posters of her and Hope together that said "Mommy's little girl". The body hadn't been released so it was basically a memorial.. I sat in the front row to try to be there for my dad. He might have been in jail but he is really facing a lot in the last couple months. He got out of jail July 2nd. Kim wouldn't let him see Hope at all probably because she forced Hope and Dexter to call her mommy. July 20th he lost Hope forever. Shawn was adopted while he was in jail and now Dexter is too.. So when you look at it like that.. he has lost Hope, Shawn, Dexter and Kim.. all he has left is me and my brother Mike. Anyway-- sorry 19 and not the best academic writer!! At the funeral, I was in the front row with Helen [Hope's Mom], my dad, and my grandpa. As the ceremony started, the pastor announced that Kim and Chad were Hope's parents... As far as I am concerned, you only have one father and one mother. I was SHOCKED at this. My tears immediately stopped and I was filled with RAGE. Kim not only killed Hope but she also put out false obituaries to the newspaper AND had this announced at the funeral.. if that's not ridiculously enough, we received a phone call from Violet Cook [who is my grandpa's EX wife] telling us about when hope was getting buried. We called my grandpa and dad's house and told them. They said we would just meet at the church and drive over together. The next day, Kim found out Dad knew when the funeral was and called and got the time moved up. My dad found out and when he arrived at the grieve site, everyone ran and the casket had already been sealed and loaded into the ground. He hadn't seen her since prior to going to prison and they took away his last chance in this world to see her even in death. Kim even refused to allow her to be buried in the family plot. My grandpa was devastated by this.



I would also like to explain a little bit about the family tree here. My dad has children with three women. Mike and Kim have the same Mom.. then there's me by my mom.. Then Shawn, Dexter and Hope with Helen.

i am sooo sorry to read this whole story. you know - usually i say when faced with manipulative fucktards like this, distance yourself as quickly as possible. they will never change. and they will always try to fuck with you. but it is not as easy when they have custody of a loved one.

i hate to say it but there is not much you can do except try to take care of yoruself, be there for the rest of the fam when they are not actin crazy (as much as you can), and remember that you did nothing to cause this.

okay update-- kim's biological mom-- debbie-- and her foster mom- jodi went to children services and tried to convince a witness there not to testify against kim.. a witness called the cops and theyre being charged with tampering with a witness.. also my brother mike heard that hope had such big head injuries that it was like she fell from a 30 foot drop..

i just noticed one thing in this post-- dexter and hope were not half-brother and sister. they had the same parents... also this story has kinda went underwraps for a while.. just a reminder for people to keep praying.. and that kim goes to trial monday.. and i plan on being there.. probably alone because my father has decided he is not going.. but i think i am.. even if it is alone.. just to look kim in the face and make sure she knows i hope she burns in hell.

I am so sorry for the pain you are going through and I applaud you for having the courage to post on here.
We often (more than not) come across as haters, but please understand the passion behind the anger we all feel for your precious little sister and any other child who has been robbed of their innocence and/or life. It's the driving force that has led us to this site and the common bond we all share.

Our hearts go out to you and your family at this time. You be strong for your little brother and I hope he can always remain a part of your life.

I know that people don't mean to say personal attacks on people just to be mean. I think it's easy to think that Kim grew up in a bad situation and to try to come up with some kind of reason behind these things. In my opinion, which may be a little harsh, but as I have had time to think about things... there is no doubt in my mind that she has killed hope... and I think that her husband should have charges also because I'm sure he has witnessed the beatings.

hey guys. kim had tried to get her bond reduced before christmas so that she could get out.. the court produced a long 6 page document that said no. in that document, it stated that kim's forensic expert is now testifying in agreeance with the prosecutor. according to the doctors at the childrens medical center in dayton, ohio, hope would have had to fallen out of a 2 story building and landed on concrete in order for kims story to be plausible. also, it said upon her being found guilty she will recieve a mandatory life sentence for the murder counts with a possiblity of 21 years more for the other counts. i pray that everyone had a wonderful christmas and i am sorry i havent been on here to update. hope has been gone for 7 months now.. and another month and a half to trial.. i am just praying for the truth.. either way.
