The 10-month-old baby at the center of a Reynosa child abuse case has died.

Mexican police told Action 4 News that means criminal charges against the mother and father could be upgraded to murder.

Marco Antonio Coronado-Estrada and Alma Elizabeth Cifuentes-Hernandez are accused of the brutal beating of their infant son.

Police said the baby had cigarrette burns on different parts of his body, bites and a skull fracture.

The boy spent more than a week in a Reynosa hospital before losing his battle for life over the weekend.

A motive was not clear but the couple's baby boy allegedly suffered physical abuse including cigarrette burns on different parts of his body, bites to his ears and a cranial fracture.

Investigators said the couple could face higher charges if the boy dies.
Authorities released photos of the boy in the hospital.

They said the boy is fighting for his life but are grateful that neighbors reported the abuse.

I just wished all neighbors all over the world would step in to help an abused child like these neighbors did. I am not talking about the friends that are no longer friends and the in laws that just confuse the agencies with false reports that keep a child or children from being helped because of the false reports by people trying to get back at one another.

OMG those pictures broke my heart. OMG, as I hold my sleeping 11 month old, whom I wish I could keep little forever so she fits so well on my lap... I am so sick of hearing about this shit and being powerless to do anything about it. All these innocent children who are harmed by the very hands of the people who brought them life. All the while people in this world who WANT kids, who would be GREAT parents, can't fucking have them. *Hangs head* There has to be something... If only I could do schooling to join CPS and help some of these poor children.

CPS rarely helps children. Even if you joined to be the sole member with a heart, you would soon go mad from being a real life needle in a haystack. Your heart may even shrivel up and look like a dog turd so you can better turn a blind eye on all the kids that need real help.
CPS screwed my family and I over. It's amazing how they can look at a child that obviously needs a way out of a horrible situation and basically call them a liar. There are tons of child abusing and molesting monsters out there just thanks to CPS. That corp needs to burn in hell.
