There is a big difference in having some fun and trying to drown someone. I can't even swim with my limbs free. That had to be terrifying for the girls.

Katy cheerleaders accused of hazing
Morton Ranch varsity squad allegedly 'kidnapped' JV members, tossed them into pool

KATY, Texas -- The Katy school district is investigating if hazing occurred in connection with incidents involving a ritual of varsity and junior varsity cheerleaders at Morton Ranch High School, a spokesman said Wednesday.
Spokesman Steve Stanford said administrators learned of allegations that the school's varsity squad “kidnapped” junior varsity members from their homes, blindfolded them, bound their hands and mouths with duct tape and tossed them into a swimming pool last Friday morning.
A parent of a junior varsity cheerleader complained of the events to the school's principal later that day, Stanford said. The district launched an investigation the following Monday to determine what occurred and if anyone was endangered.
Morton Ranch principal Joe Cammarata told district administrators Wednesday he didn't know about the initiation that involved about two dozen cheerleaders, Stanford said. Under district guidelines, varsity and junior varsity teams have a maximum of 12 members.
Stanford said police are taking statements from the cheerleaders at Texas A&M University in College Station, where they are attending cheerleading camp this week.
“After the police officers have taken all the statements from those involved and concluded their investigation, the district will take the appropriate next steps as warranted,” Stanford said.
The district is withholding the school police reports pending an opinion from the Texas Attorney General's Office while the investigation is ongoing, the district's public records manager Leslie Garvin said.
While school officials say they are not giving out any details of the case, family members of one of the varsity cheerleaders talked to the Houston Chronicle about the ordeal.
Tracie MacIntyre, whose 16-year-old daughter Krystal MacIntyre is a junior on the varsity squad, said the parents of all the girls knew the varsity cheerleaders would take the newcomers to a breakfast place from their homes at 4 a.m.
“All of the parents were called in advance and they were OK with it,” said Tracie MacIntyre, whose daughter was on the junior varsity squad last year. “If I thought my daughter was in danger, I wouldn't let her out of the house.”
MacIntyre said all of the girls attended cheer practice later in the day.
Her 18-year-old daughter Lisa MacIntyre said her sister didn't know why the cheerleaders veered from the tradition and decided to go to a teammate's house for a swim.
She said her sister did not participate in dunking anyone in the pool, and she objected to the girls having their mouths and hands taped.
“My sister said all of girls were laughing and having a good time,” she said. “She saw some girls jumping into the pool on their own.”
The Texas Education Code states that those who engage in hazing can be charged with a Class B misdemeanor if the act “does not cause serious bodily injury to another.”
“Law enforcement will be the ones to determine if the alleged actions rose to the level of hazing,” Stanford said.
Stanford said the district will take appropriate measures as warranted based on the findings of the investigation.
MacIntyre said she is worried about the effect that the investigation is having on her daughter.
“Her life is cheerleading,” she said. “Everything she wants for her birthday is related to cheerleading. She even wants to be a cheerleader in college.”

I can't believe I just read that....MacIntyre said she is worried about the effect that the investigation is having on her daughter.
"Her life is cheerleading," she said. "Everything she wants for her birthday is related to cheerleading. She even wants to be a cheerleader in college."
I have an idea for Ms. MacIntyre
Lemmings will and should be punished.
Living vicariously through her daughter perhaps?“Her life is cheerleading,” she said. “Everything she wants for her birthday is related to cheerleading. She even wants to be a cheerleader in college.”
YOUR mom.
this interview was on Good Morning America this morning.....I am so embarrased for my daughter's school but wow, that varsity cheerleader is straight up a bitch.
Texas HS Hazing Gone too Far?

Cheerleader speaks out about hazing incident. The Katy school district conducted an investigation which resulted in the suspension of all cheerleading activities at Morton Ranch for the entire year.
LE charged them with a misdemenor as well.
Did HS cheer squad go too far?"Once you duct tape someone's hands, blindfold them throw them in a pool, start flicking their body parts, that's way too far," she said.
Correct me if I am wrong, had I as an adult did this to another child or adult, would I only be charged with a misdemenor?
The little voice in my head keeps repeating the word assault.
