    Holley Lynn Wimunc is missing

(CNN) -- Authorities are searching for a female soldier, missing after a fire at her apartment near Fort Bragg in North Carolina.

Investigators Thursday morning found evidence of arson at the Fayetteville apartment of 2nd Lt. Holley Wimunc, 24.

A neighbor, Roland Petty, told CNN affiliate WRAL-TV that he saw a man running from the area on Wednesday night and smelled smoke, although he didn't associate it with the building at the time.

In a court filing for a protective order, Wimunc said that in May her husband had knocked her down, held a loaded gun to her head and then threatened to commit suicide, WRAL reported. VideoWatch police at work at Wimunc's complex »

The court documents indicate that John Wimunc is a Marine stationed at Camp Lejeune, the station reported.

A Camp Lejeune spokesman told WRAL that police had spoken to John Wimunc on Thursday about his wife's disappearance.

"I haven't seen any violence. I know [Wimunc's husband] was not living here anymore, but that's all I know," a neighbor told WTVD-TV, another CNN affiliate.

Both stations reported that Holley Wimunc's car was still in the parking lot at the apartment.

Her disappearance is considered a missing person case.

    Holley Lynn Wimunc is missing

missing 24-year-old soldier from Fort Bragg whose apartment was found burned this week had sought court protection from an Illinois woman who allegedly tried to "embarrass" her and her husband online, FOX News has learned.

The soldier, 2nd Lt. Holley Wimunc of Lafayette, La., was granted a "no contact" order last year against Lindsay Hunter of Avon, Ill., by a North Carolina judge.

Wimunc wrote in court documents that Hunter repeatedly had posted photographs of herself and Wimunc's Marine husband, John Patrick Wimunc, on the Internet with comments, and that Hunter had been harassing the couple.

It wasn't clear how Hunter and the Wimuncs knew each other, if at all. A Raleigh TV station reported that it had reached Hunter by phone, but she had declined to comment.

    They found her burned remains....
    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,381581,00.html

Burned remains found near Camp Lejeune are that of a missing North Carolina army nurse, the soldier's family confirmed to FOX News on Monday, and her husband was charged with arson in a possible cover-up of the woman's death.

The charred body of Army 2nd Lt. Holley Wimunc, 24, was found late Sunday in the Sneads Ferry area. She had been missing since Thursday after a fire was set at her Fayetteville apartment.

"It is with profound sadness that our family just received the news from authorities that our beloved daughter Holley is dead," Wimunc's father Jesse James said in a statement. "Since last Thursday's shocking news about Holley's burned apartment and her missing person status, our family through the country has nonetheless been holding on to a thin thread of hope that she would be found alive. Today, that thread of hope broke as her body was discovered."

Wimunc's husband, Marine Cpl. John Patrick Wimunc, was arrested and charged with arson. A fellow marine, Kyle Alden, was arrested on the same charge, WRAL.com reported.

No surprise it was the husband. It was only a matter of time until the found the body. I wonder how his parents feel now, after issuing that statement that they supported their son all the way, and he couldn't have done anything to hurt Holley. Bah... Now they can support a murderer.

    Marine charged with first-degree murder

The husband of a missing Fort Bragg soldier has been charged with first-degree murder for her death.

Cpl. John Patrick Wimunc, 23, a Camp Lejeune Marine, was arrested Monday and charged with first-degree murder, first-degree arson and conspiracy to commit first-degree arson, according to a news release from the Fayetteville Police Department.

Kyle Ryan Alden, 22, also a Marine at Camp Lejuene, was charged with felony accessory after the fact to first-degree murder, first-degree arson and conspiracy to commit first-degree arson. The Marines are in Cumberland County Detention Center.

The arrests came after a charred body was found in the woods near Camp Lejeune on Sunday. Authorities believe is the body is that of Army 2nd Lt. Holley Lynn James Wimunc, but have not yet confirmed that information.

"We initially saw paraphernalia that indicated it could be the missing lieutenant from Fayetteville," Sheriff Ed Brown said Monday. "This appears to be Fayetteville's case, from the very onset yesterday."

    Missing soldier's husband did it

    http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/07/14/wimunc.case/index.html
**i don't know how to do pictures**

The Marine husband of a slain Fort Bragg soldier was charged with murder Monday and another Marine was charged with aiding the crime, a local police chief said.
Fayetteville, North Carolina, police released this undated photo of 2nd Lt. Holley Wimunc.

Authorities have been searching for the missing soldier, Army 2nd Lt. Holley Wimunc, 24, since a fire torched her North Carolina apartment on July 10.

Marine Cpl. John Wimunc and fellow Marine Lance Cpl. Kyle Alden were initially charged with arson, but after police interviews Wimunc was charged with first-degree murder, said Fayetteville Police Chief Tom Bergamine.

Alden was charged with felony accessory after the fact to first-degree murder, Bergamine said.

Both were taken to Cumberland County's jail and held without bond, he said.

Earlier, a witness found a charred body in woods, but Detective Jeff Locklear told reporters that police were still awaiting a positive identification from the medical examiner and could not say for certain it was Holly Wimunc.

The lieutenant's father released a statement about the death Monday in which he said his daughter was a nurse at a military hospital and had two children.

"It is with profound sadness that our family just received the news from authorities that our beloved daughter Holley is dead," Wimunc's father said in a statement released to CNN affiliate WRAL in Raleigh, North Carolina.

"Since last Thursday's shocking news about Holley's burned apartment and her missing person status, our family through the country has nonetheless been holding on to a thin thread of hope that she would be found alive."

Military officials said both Marines were stationed at Camp Lejeune, which is about two hours away from Wimunc's Fayetteville home.

Joe Lenczyk -- resident agent-in-charge for the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives -- said Wimunc and her husband were estranged and lived apart.
    Don't Miss

Wimunc is the second female soldier from Fort Bragg to die under suspicious circumstances in recent weeks.

Spc. Megan Lynn Touma, 23, was seven months pregnant at the time of her death in June, authorities said. Investigators say they are treating that death as a homicide.

Camp Lejeune also has had a suspicious death of a female soldier this year. Twenty-year-old pregnant Marine Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach's charred body was found January in the back yard of another Marine stationed at the base.

That suspect, U.S. Marine Cpl. Cesar Laurean, is being pursued by prosecutors

Wimunc's death is the third homicide of a young North Carolina-based female service member in the past seven months.

Holley Wimunc's father, Jesse James, in Dubuque, Iowa, said his daughter was a St. Ambrose University graduate, and excited about nursing and her career in the U.S. Army. She also had a son and daughter.

John Wimunc was not the father of Holley Wimunc's two children, and they were not in Fayetteville when the fire was reported. She had sent them to live with her father because of "the domestic situation," Fayetteville police said.

A dismembered body authorities believe to be Holley Wimunc's was discovered in a shallow grave off a dirt road in a wooded area in Sneads Ferry on Sunday afternoon, near Alden's home. A man who was four-wheeling in the area called 911 to report a fire, and responding forestry officials found the charred human remains along with two knives and a hatchet, according to 911 recordings released to The Daily News.

The body was found in a shallow grave that did not entirely cover the body, Brown said. A hand, not attached to an arm, was sticking up from the ground.

"We believe we have recovered 98 percent of the remains and a mammouth amount of evidence,"

He later added that the fire appeared to be set a few days prior - which coincides with the apartment fire set Thursday in Fayetteville - but smoldered underground until flaring up Sunday.

While the interior walls of the burned room were black with soot, Corcione said, the fire burned itself out and left behind useable evidence.

"The suspicion is that the murder possibly happened ... in Cumberland County" and the remains were brought to Onslow, Brown said. "The crime scene is in Onslow County, but it will be prosecuted in Fayetteville."

Angry Suspect in slaying faces earlier charge (Alden)

what ya got to say about your boy now momma ?

    http://www.jdnews.com/news/alden_581...munc_dawn.html

A Camp Lejeune Marine charged in connection with the death of another Marine's wife was charged with assaulting his own wife in April.

In April, an investigative sergeant with the Onslow County Sheriff's Department was dispatched to the Camp Lejeune Naval Hospital because Alden's wife, Dawn Alden, 44, said her husband had assaulted her.

"I spoke to the victim who stated her husband does this all the time," Sgt. Shannon Albright wrote in his April 12 report. "He will grab her, push her but he never hits her."

Albright reported that the Aldens argued over a cell phone and that Kyle Alden wanted Dawn Alden to get in his truck. When she refused, Albright reported, "the suspect picked her up and threw her into the back of the truck."

Dawn Alden told Albright that she got away from her husband and got into her car, and Kyle Alden chased her in his truck.

Dawn Alden had no physical injuries at the time, according to the report.

Albright stated in his report that he advised Dawn Alden she could file a warrant for her husband's arrest at the magistrates office. Dawn Alden later left the hospital without being discharged, according to the report.

Dawn Alden filed a complaint with a magistrate, and Kyle Alden was arrested April 13 on a charge of misdemeanor assault on a female.

Kyle Alden is accused of "punching, pulling and twisting (Dawn Alden's) arm," according to the warrant.

A message left for Dawn Alden at her home was not returned by press time.

Kyle Alden has a July 28 court date in Onslow County for the assault charge. His next expected court date in Cumberland County for the accessory charge is set for Aug. 5.

Kyle Alden and John Wimunc are being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center with no bond for the charges related to Holley Wimunc's death.

Damn, its not safe to be a pregnant Marie corps wife these days. Fucking Tards, I am starting to be embarrassed that I was once in The Marines.

Autopsy: Holley Wimunc died from gunshot wound

A Fort Bragg Army nurse who authorities say was killed by her estranged Camp Lejeune Marine husband and buried in a shallow Sneads Ferry grave was shot in the head, according to autopsy reports released Thursday.

The report also showed 2nd Lt. Holley Wimunc, 24, had been burned, dismembered and wrapped in an air mattress. She had been missing since her Fayetteville apartment was torched.

Cpl. John Patrick Wimunc was charged by the Fayetteville Police Department in July with first degree murder, arson and conspiracy in her death.

The couple was involved in a bitter divorced.

A fellow Marine, Lance Cpl. Kyle Alden, is charged as an accessory in her death.

Both men are scheduled to appear in a Cumberland County courtroom Jan. 27.

Division of Forest Resources personnel discovered her remains when they responded to a fire about a mile down a dirt road off Old Folkstone Road in Sneads Ferry. Onslow County Sheriff Ed Brown said the fire appeared to have been set in an effort to cover up a crime.

Authorities have charged military personnel in the deaths of three other women in North Carolina over the past year.

    1) Marine Cpl. Cesar Laurean was charged with murder in the death of Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach, whose charred remains were found in his Half Moon community backyard. He is fighting extradition from Mexico.

    2) Army Sgt. Richard Smith has been accused of hiring a man to kill his wife, Sgt. Christina Smith. Army Sgt. Edgar Patino has been charged with killing Spc. Megan Touma, who was pregnant.

Both are in custody in Cumberland County awaiting trial.

    3) Marine Cpl. Jonathan Gould has been charged with the attempted murder of his wife, Erin Gould. He is in the Onslow County Jail, and authorities reported Thursday that his wife is recovering.

What happened? Did they shoot her, try to burn the flat with her in it, then come back and discover that one could still tell she'd been shot before the flat was torched and decide to take the body away for disposal elsewhere?

Or did they simply shoot her in the flat, torch it to hide the signs, and take her body elsewhere for disposal, burning her dismembered corpse to get rid of as much trace as possible?

The second option is shorter and does not require them to come back to check their "handiwork", so Occam's Razor says that is the train of events........

I feel so incredibly sorry for the families concerned. Both the families.

I knew I would find this story on here. I graduated with this dumbass. And have even hung out at his house before. I was really surprised that he had gotten married because I had always known him to be real immature, and not quite popular with chics. He was the class dumbass but he himself thought that he was HILARIOUS. He drove around in a caravan that he had completely cut the top of off, so it was like a convertable.

I know he was in Iraq a few times and will probably try and blame this on posttraumatic stress disorder or something. Even though he was a dumbass, I never would have imagined him to kill his own wife, set her on fire, dismember her, and bury her in a ditch. Although, I don't doubt he is the one who did this.

Suspect in pregnant Marine's death detained in U.S.

Suspect in pregnant Marine's death detained in U.S.

The suspected killer of a 20-year-old pregnant Camp Lejeune Marine is in a North Carolina jail late Friday after being extradited from Mexico, law enforcement sources said.
Marine Cpl. Cesar Laurean, 22, was extradited Friday to the United States and held on a murder charge.

Marine Cpl. Cesar Laurean, 22, was arrested in Mexico in April 2008. He has been indicted on charges that include financial card transaction fraud, obtaining property by false pretenses and first-degree murder in the death of Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach.

Laurean, who is being held without bond, was booked into the Onslow County Detention Center about 9 p.m. ET, according to a police statement obtained by CNN.

An arraignment is scheduled for Monday, the statement read.

Lauterbach was eight months pregnant when she disappeared in December 2007; her charred body and that of her fetus were found beneath a fire pit in Laurean's backyard near Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, where both were stationed, in January 2008.

Investigators accompanied Laurean, who fled to Mexico, back to the United States on Friday morning, two law enforcement sources said.

Laurean will stand trial in Onslow County, North Carolina, for Lauterbach's killing.

North Carolina prosecutors allege Laurean killed Lauterbach on December 14 and used her ATM card 10 days later before fleeing to Mexico. He was arrested in San Juan Vina in the Mexican state of Michoacan. Because he holds dual citizenship in the United States and Mexico, he could not be immediately deported and had to go through the extradition process, authorities have said.

Before Laurean's extradition to the United States, Camp Lejeune spokesman Maj. Cliff Gilmore said the slaying suspect would go into the civilian jail in Onslow County and stand trial in a civilian court. He was listed as a deserter shortly after he disappeared following Lauterbach's death. He remains on deserter status, but is still considered an active-duty Marine, Gilmore said.

"[Laurean] will be treated like any other inmate in our detention center, and he will be prosecuted by the district attorney's office," Rick Sutherland, inspector general of the Onslow County Sheriff's Office, said in a written statement.

The FBI said in a news release Thursday the sheriff's office asked for help in finding Laurean after he disappeared January 12, 2008.

If convicted, Laurean would face a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole. Mexico's extradition policy prohibits U.S. authorities from seeking the death penalty against fugitives it hands over.

Asked by a Mexican reporter at the time of his arrest whether he killed Lauterbach, Laurean replied, "I loved her."

Authorities found Lauterbach's body after Laurean's wife, Christina, produced a note her husband had written claiming the 20-year-old woman slit her own throat during an argument, according to officials.

Although a gaping 4-inch wound was found on the left side of Lauterbach's neck, autopsy results indicated that the wound would not have been fatal and may have occurred after death. Lauterbach died from blunt-force trauma to the head, according to the autopsy.

Prosecutors have said there was no evidence that Christina Laurean was involved in or aware of Lauterbach's slaying before she gave the note to authorities. As part of the effort to apprehend Laurean, authorities had seized a computer belonging to his sister-in-law that Christina Laurean was using to communicate with her husband, a law enforcement official had told CNN.

Lauterbach had accused Laurean of raping her, and it is unclear whether he was the father of her unborn child. Her relatives have said they believe he was. Laurean had denied the rape allegation and said he had had no sexual contact with Lauterbach.

Update: Cesar Laurean was not the father of unborn child

In a report completed by the Department of Defense Armed Forces Institute of Pathology May 7, analysts concluded that DNA from former Cpl. Cesar Laurean did not match that of the unborn child of Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach.

"Therefore, Cesar A. Laurean can be excluded as being the biological father of Baby Lauterbach," the report reads.

Yet know, my master, God omnipotent,
Is mustering in his clouds on our behalf

Well not really because he was still up on rape charges and he admittedly had an affair with her. And murder is senseless.

Former Camp Lejeune Marine Cpl. John Wimunc will spend the rest of his life behind bars after pleading guilty Monday to killing his estranged wife in 2008.

Army nurse Holley Wimunc’s remains were found in a shallow grave near Camp Lejeune three days after her apartment in Fayetteville was burned. Investigators say she died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Prosecutors were seeking the death penalty in the murder case but the negotiated plea offered him a lesser sentence.

Wimunc will have no chance for parole.
