Caregiver at Logan Regional Hospital really sucks!

LOGAN — A hospital caregiver has been arrested after police say he performed a sex act on an unconscious patient.

Police officers arrested an intoxicated man on Jan. 20 and began transporting him to the Cache County Jail. During the ride, the man passed out in the police vehicle and officers couldn't wake him up, said Logan Police Chief Gary Jensen.

An ambulance was called and paramedics took the man to Logan Regional Hospital. Once there, the emergency staff was unable to wake him so he was put into an exam room. An officer was outside the door writing up a police report. Once finished, Jensen said the officer walked into the room and observed the caregiver performing a sex act on the unconscious patient.

Hal L. Weston, 46, of Laketown, Rich County, was booked into jail into jail for investigation of forcible sodomy.

Weston has been fired from the hospital, said Logan Regional Hospital communications director Troy Oldham. "The alleged incident goes against our core values and inappropriate actions towards any patient are not tolerated or acceptable."
