Bethany Did Not Commit Suicide; She Was Murdered By A Sex Cult!

A 23-year-old Grandview man was charged in Jackson County Court with the murder of a woman who police at first believed had committed suicide.

Instead, police now believe Micah Wayne Moore of Kansas City, killed her in an effort to try to cover up that he and other men had sexually assaulted her several times in the past months.

In the probable cause statement, police say they found the body of Bethany Deaton, with a bag wrapped around her head inside a minivan at Longview Lake Shelter on Tuesday, Oct. 30th.

Police say there was a small notepad inside the van that appeared to be a suicide note. Part of it read, “I chose this evil thing.”

According to the probable cause statement, there was an empty bottle of Acetaminophen PM also found inside the van. Deaton was in the back seat, passenger side.

On Friday, police say Micah Moore went to the Grandview Police Department and admitted that he was involved in Bethany’s death.

Police say Moore told them he killed Bethany because, while Bethany and her husband lived with Moore and other men, they sexually assaulted Deaton over the last few months.

Police say Moore was afraid Bethany was going to tell her therapist about the assaults, so he held a bag over her head until her body shook.

Police say Moore also told them he drugged Bethany before the sexual assaults and before the murder.

Moore also allegedly told police that he recorded the sexual assaults on his ipad and that he and the others wrote poems about the assaults which they also kept in the ipad.

The death of a 27-year-old Grandview nurse, who was at the center of a disturbing story of group sexual assault and murder, is coming into focus in her neighborhood.
    [...]

Moore told police he took Deaton to Longview Lake on Oct. 30 and held a plastic bag over her head "until her body shook."

It was originally framed as a suicide. A note investigators found with her body said, "My name is Bethany Deaton. I chose this evil thing. I did it because I wouldn't be a real person and what is the point of living if it is too late for that?"

But the truth appears to go much deeper.

Several of the men living in the home also told detectives they were involved in a "sexual group," having sex with each other, and that it was part of a "religious experience."

Neighbors say there was always a crowd at the house.

"We would come home and there would be cars lined up all outside," neighbor Cashsha Jennings said.

Neighbors assumed it was Bible study. The group all worshipped together at the International House of Prayer, but church members say this was an isolated group that does not reflect on the whole church.

Roommates described Deaton's husband as their "spiritual leader," and said he was manipulative and controlling over the group.

Moore also told detectives that someone else told him to kill Deaton and that he reported back to that person after killing her. That person's name was blacked out in court records.

Roommates also said that Deaton's husband was "angry" and "frustrated" in the weeks leading up to her death, and that three days after she died, the husband said he'd had a dream that he killed his wife by suffocating her.
    http://www.kctv5.com/story/20070537/...-nurses-murder

No one other than Moore has been charged in the case, but the Jackson County prosecutor’s office statement noted that the case is under investigation.

Moore is charged only with murder, though the detective’s statement said that Moore had admitted to a pastor, Shelley Hundley, that he had committed sexual assaults.
    [...]

According to court documents, Hundley said that she had talked with Moore at the Grandview Police Department and that he had admitted the sexual assaults. He told her they were recorded on his tablet computer, which was in a backpack in his apartment in the 11100 block of College Avenue. Also on the tablet were poems the assailants had written about the assaults, he said.

Neighbors on the same block as the Grandview house said more than a dozen Jackson County Sheriff’s Department vehicles converged on the house around 6 p.m. Friday. They witnessed at least one person being taken away, apparently in handcuffs. Investigators searching the house also carried out computers, they said.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Ronda Montgomery confirmed that a person was taken into custody and questioned. The person was released but remains a person of interest, she said.

In the past, 15 cars or more, many with Texas license plates, would crowd the street once or twice a week and the house would fill with people, mostly men, said Terra Lindsey, 32.

It sickens me the shit that people are able to justify to themselves in the name of "religion".

    Micah Moore's FB:

    Husband Tyler Deaton's FB:

    Crazy bullshit:

"See, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare!...a new song!...I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?!? For a long time I have held my peace, I have kept still. Now I will cry out!" -God (Isaiah 42, 43)

"Love is as strong as death, passion as fierce as the grave. Its flashes are flashes of fire, a blazing flame, the very flame of the Lord. And many waters cannot quench love, neither can floods overwhelm it." (Song of Solomon 8:6-7)

"Awake, Awake O sleeper and the light of Christ will shine on you!!" (Eph. 5:14)

"I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine."
    Statement from Bethany's parents:

Carol Leidlein said her grief surpasses all words. She had her husband shared a prepared statement:

"We are deeply grieving the loss of our beautiful and innocent daughter. We are shocked and horrified by the information now coming forth. The betrayal, the subtle and increasing manipulation, and the brutal victimization which occurred is beyond tragic. We pray for the truth to be revealed. While it is important to understand how Bethany died, it is even more important to understand how she lived. Because of the ongoing investigation, we do not have any further comment at this time."

This story touched a nerve. My ex-husband tried to get me to write an apology for my life once before, naming all my regrets and short-comings. I didn't do it, and I paid for it, but I think I saved my own life that night. This poor woman, I cannot imagine what her life must have been like. She probably welcomed death. :(

Oh, he is! To hear him tell it, he is my ex because I am not a submissive Christian woman and I have the values and morals of a heathen. Also I was extremely physically, verbally, emotionally and mentally abusive. Good thing he got away from me.

I think I would have written the letter for him.

"For my dearest darling douchebag, let me first apologize for starting off by calling you a douchebag; I had intended to be more subtle to begin with. I'm sorry for that time when I was 7 months old and overfilled my diaper with a veritable flood of diarrhea, while my dad was holding me. I don't recall doing it on purpose, but being not only a heathen, but worse yet, the possessor of a vagina, I must have had nefarious intent. I'm sorry I grew boobs, I know they are a distraction to men everywhere who can only think with their glorious and obviously non-heathen dicks, for which I am expected to cover up any sign that I really am a female, lest I cause them to commit the sin of lust. Clearly my causing it makes the sin mine, and absolves the penis owner.

But most of all, oh holy shithead, I'm sorry I married a sanctimonious asshole, who is too little and pathetic of a person to be able to accept a partner who is their equal."

Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker confirmed on Tuesday that Micah Moore told detectives that he killed 27-year-old Bethany Ann Deaton on the order of her husband, Tyler Deaton. Moore said Tyler Deaton is the leader of a close-knit religious group involved in sex with each other. Tyler Deaton has not been charged with any wrongdoing in connection to the death of his wife. . .

Secrets of Tyler Deaton's prayer group emerge

    Tyler Deaton
Tyler Deaton gathered his followers one more time to his wife’s Kansas City funeral.
    [...]

Neither Deaton nor Moore could be reached for comment, but The Star, using court documents and interviews with people close to the Deatons and Moore, has pieced together a glimpse of life inside the group.
    [...]

Deaton and several others graduated in May 2009 and migrated to Kansas City to continue their religious exploration at the International House of Prayer’s booming school and ministry for missionaries. Bethany went, too. The parent who saw them as innocent followers watched them go as young people of strong faith, imagining lives as missionaries.

“How, in three years, does all this come to pass?” she wondered as she reflected on the allegations. “How did they fall down that slippery slope? How did one person have this much control?”
    [...]

Church Distances Itself from Husband of Murder Victim
The International House of Prayer is distancing itself further from the leader of a religious group whose wife was murdered in a conspiracy of drugs and sex in a statement on Friday, but the latest statement from the church is raising even more questions about its relationship with Tyler Deaton and what the church knew about him.
    [...]

Ever since the sordid details of drugs, sex, religion and murder have come to light, the International House of Prayer has distanced itself from the small religious group to which the man charged with murder and the victim’s husband belonged.

The church has said Deaton and his group operated independently from the church and “under a veil of secrecy.” However, there were warnings.

First in June, according to the statement, someone approached IHOP’s small groups director raising concerns about Deaton’s manipulative behavior in his independent bible study group.

At the time the church says the director met with Deaton and mistakenly concluded that these concerns had been resolved. Though the church says the concerns did not include any reference to the sexual perversion, sexual assault or malicious practice that were exposed only after Bethany’s death.

Second, an early November website posting listed Tyler Deaton as a Division Coordinator on the administrative team of the International House of Prayer Friendship Groups. The posting was taken down after Deaton’s roommate confessed to killing Deaton’s wife and accused Deaton of ordering the murder.

The church says the listing of Deaton’s name was an error made by a volunteer and that Deaton was never a group coordinator. The church also says it regrets Deaton’s admission to IHOPU four years ago and all connection he had with the organization.

One should note that this group is also heavily involved in ex-gay therapy, trying to "cure" men of their homosexuals desires. Not a shock to see many of the members be prone to brainwashing like this when most of them have probably been exposed to it for years.

    Murder confession retracted

Attorneys for Micah Moore, the man charged with first-degree murder in the death of prayer-group friend Bethany Ann Deaton, said Wednesday that their client’s fragile mental state led him to make a false confession.

“We are aware of no evidence that a crime has occurred,” said Melanie S. Morgan, one of Moore’s attorneys, reading a statement after the brief court hearing. “The facts suggest Bethany Deaton’s death was an unfortunate suicide and Micah Moore had nothing to do with that suicide.

“Driven to the police station by representantives of his church community, Micah told a fictional account that was bizarre, nonsensical and most importantly, untrue. They were the figments of a distraught and confused young man under extreme psychological pressures as a result of his friend Bethany’s untimely suicide and the sudden removal of his spiritual leader, Tyler Deaton, from their extremely close-knit religious community.

“The doctrines taught in that community affected Micah’s mental state and, unfortunately, dominated his thinking. Micah’s fiction to the police led to the filing of the complaint in this case.”

Morgan had requested a preliminary hearing for Wednesday afternoon, but prosecutors asked for and were granted a continuance.
    [...]

Morgan said that she hoped authorities would be as vigilant to disprove her client’s story as they were to substantiate it.

“In the end, the truth will show that Micah Moore is innocent,” she said.

Good catch navsec! Apparently the parents in the starvation case practically walked. I haven't, as of yet, found news stories to back up the substatiated the information the blogger posted at the link I'm providing, but they seem to know quite a bit about the IHOP church. Interesting info on this destructive sect.

    Bethany and Tyler Deaton
It has been claimed that Tyler Deaton, who is under investigation for ordering the brutal murder of his wife Bethany was involved in sexual affairs with at least three other men who lived at the religious community he led.

Over one month on from the tragic discovery of 26-year-old Bethany's body in the back seat of a van at Longview Lake, Missouri, allegations from other members of the charismatic Christian sect she belonged to have cast the spotlight firmly on her 27-year-old widower.

While Deaton has not been charged in connection with her murder, one member of his International House of Prayer (IHOP) sect has - and it emerged several men who lived in the house told detectives they had been involved in 'secret' sexual relations with Mr. Deaton.

Court records have redacted these men's names but, one witness told police that Mr. Deaton mentioned having dreamed that 'he had killed his wife by suffocating her,' a week after her death.

The Deaton's other roommates told police of alleged sexual relationships by Mr. Deaton to 'discover his masculinity', because he was 'frustrated' that he 'couldn't get an erection' with his wife according to the probable cause statement seen by the Daily Beast.

Another member interviewed by detectives investigating the case said that one night he was lying in bed and that 'Tyler had laid next to him and held him.'

'He stated that he realized now that Tyler was attempting to make him a member of their sexual group.'

Another man who lived in the home in Kansas City said that 'he was involved in an ongoing sexual relationship with Deaton' and said that he 'was controlling and manipulative and said that the sexual activity was part of a religious experience.'

A third man said in his statements to police that he had been in a sexual relationship with Mr. Deaton and named him as the household's 'spiritual leader.'

He claimed that in the weeks prior to his wife's death Mr. Deaton had become 'angry' and 'frustrated'.
    [...]

While Micah Moore has been charged with first degree murder of Bethany, authorities are still investigating Mr. Deaton, who has been described as a 'Pied-Piper' like leader.
    [...]

Dspite withdrawing his confession, police have not dropped the charges against Mr. Moore, nor arrested Mr. Deaton.

A 23-year-old man at the center of a bizarre story that his attorneys now say was never true, pleaded not guilty to murder Thursday in Jackson County Court.

In early November, Micah Moore went to police and told them he killed Bethany Ann Deaton, 27, on October 30th at Longview Lake after her husband ordered him to do it.
    [...]

Then, at the end of November, during what was supposed to be a preliminary hearing, Moore’s attorneys told the judge that Moore made up the story and that there was actually no crime– that Bethany Deaton died from suicide as police originally thought.

Prosecutors then asked the judge for a continuance so they could seek an indictment through a grand jury. In mid-December, a grand jury indictment was filed in the courts.

Soooo......was he gay & had some serious pent up aggression towards her for it? Or was it jealousy that she slept with the men too? And was she having sex with these men not because of the "spirituality" but because her husband was not aroused with her?

This is like a Hollywood movie.

Unmasked by curious kids! They discover their teacher is a suspected sex-cult leader.

There are official background checks, and then there are teenagers with Google.

Tyler Deaton cleared the first hurdle easily enough when he landed a job in February to teach at a Texas high school. A search of databases for the FBI and Texas Department of Public Safety raised no red flags.

But students at Lancaster High School near Dallas Googled the new, young pre-calculus teacher and found news stories
from Kansas City with allegations that Deaton’s wife, Bethany, 27, was murdered as part of a coverup by a religious cult to hide a series of sexual assaults.
The group’s supposed spiritual leader? Tyler Deaton.

When word spread through the halls of Lancaster last week, district officials suspended Deaton — and the phones started ringing at the Jackson County sheriff’s office.

“We’ve heard from several parents from down there,” Sgt. Ronda Montgomery said Monday. “Everybody wants to know what’s going on.”

Deaton has not been charged in his wife’s death. The person who has, Micah Moore, was part of Deaton’s religious group and lived with the couple at a house in Grandview.

Moore initially claimed that Tyler Deaton had told him to kill his wife, according to court documents. Moore also said that he informed Deaton when the job was done. He has since recanted his confession.

Other witnesses told authorities of a group of young people who were making sex part of their religious experience and that men in the group sexually assaulted Bethany Deaton. Moore said Bethany Deaton was killed for fear she would talk, according to court documents.

The parent of a Lancaster High School senior told The Star on Monday that her daughter was sad to hear the news because all the kids liked Deaton.

“She was hoping it was a joke,” Krissy Johnson said. “I was angry to see how he was able to get close to our kids with this currently going on in his life.

“It makes me wonder if Google needs to be part of the basic background check so the school can pick up on any information the background check missed.”

The Lancaster Independent School District sent a letter Friday to parents, saying it had been made aware of concerns about a teacher at the school.

“The staff member, who was hired in February, cleared a formal background check conducted through the Department of Public Safety and the Federal Bureau of Investigation Databases.

“However, after receiving the concern, we took immediate action, removed him from the classroom and placed him on leave. We are in the process of obtaining additional information as we further investigate this matter.”
