Is Darrell Holloway Guilty Or Blind?

Testimony is underway in the trial of the man whom the defense says it blind, charged with assaulting and beating a police officer during a pedestrian stop in West Philadelphia last year.
Officer Anthony Lazzaro testified that defendant Holloway attacked him — shoved him, then got into a boxer’s stance — and they then battled, punching and grabbing each other for several minutes.

And when other arriving officers pulled Holloway away, Officer Lazzaro says, Holloway broke free, ran several steps toward him and started attacking him again, never giving any indication he was blind.
But defense attorney Kevin Mincey says Holloway, sitting in court today with his cane, is completely blind and the charges against him are ridiculous (see previous story).
But Officer Lazzaro has indicated that Holloway is now faking. The officer says he has seen Holloway in the neighborhood since the alleged assault, texting and walking unassisted.
But Mincey, the defense attorney, says Holloway was blinded by a shooting in 2007, leaving him with one prosthetic eye and bullet fragments in the remaining eye.
Mincey played some cell phone audio from that riotous night in which a voice can be heard screaming repeatedly, “He’s blind!”

Maybe he's both. Just because he's blind doesn't mean he's not guilty. If he was blind and deaf, I'd be inclined to give him a break.

I'm no expert, but I believe it is possible to meet the legal definition of "blind," while still retaining some vision. Maybe he's blind, but not blind.

It's called legally blind. I know many folks that are legally blind and they have some vision. I think this fool may just be legally blind or legally blonde. Who knows.

Is there not a way to determine if someone is legally blind or faking? Also what does him being blind have to do with whether or not he could beat a cops ass or not?

I was wondering that too but then I realized maybe b/c he's blind he didn't realize he was fighting a police officer. He may have thought he was being attacked by a normal, every day thug. I wonder if the officer identified himself? On Cops they seem to say "Stop! Police!" a thousand times. If they have an audio recording maybe the lack of those words led to the punch fest.

Holloway says police were looking for guns or drugs when he was the subject of a pedestrian stop last year. He had neither, but still he was patted down.
And then, he says, an officer grabbed his belt and started pulling him. Holloway says he planted his feet in resistance, and that’s when the beating began.
At the end of his testimony today, he took out his prosthetic right eye and showed it to the jury, repeating earlier testimony that he can’t see anything out of the other eye either, which was damaged in the same 2007 shooting
