Sometimes a blog post's introduction writes itself. Such is the case when a woman who's five-months pregnant assaults another woman by throwing a bleach-like substance in her face inside a 7-Eleven because the victim testified against the attacker's unborn baby's daddy.
According to charging documents recently filed by the Pierce County Prosecutor's Office, that's exactly the kind of sadly ridiculous situation 22-year-old Deara Lashea Lewis has gotten herself into.
Lewis has been charged with intimidating a witness, first-degree robbery and second-degree assault stemming from the May 4 showdown at a 7-Eleven on Orchard Street in University Place. Along with throwing a bleach-like blue cleaning substance in the victim's face, Lewis and a female accomplice allegedly jacked her purse before making off in a Ford Explorer driven by a man waiting in the parking lot. Video surveillance inside the 7-Eleven caught all of it.
The victim had previously testified at trial against David Clyde Davis, who the News Tribune reports was charged with promoting commercial sexual abuse of a minor, second-degree robbery, unlawful imprisonment and fourth-degree assault. Authorities indicate Lewis is carrying Davis' child.

The victim told authorities that while she was inside the 7-Eleven she was first approached by a man - believed to be the same man who drove the getaway SUV - who entered and exited the store several times. The man allegedly told the victim there was someone in the parking lot who needed to speak with her, but the victim didn't see anyone in the parking lot, so she stayed put.
Soon thereafter, still inside the 7-Eleven, charging documents indicate the victim was approached by a roughly five-months pregnant Deara Lewis, who allegedly said to the victim: "Come outside snitch and get what was coming for you." The victim reportedly told Lewis she was waiting for her boyfriend, who was buying gas at the ARCO station across the street, presumably implying she wouldn't be following her outside. The victim told authorities she'd been warned to stay away from the woman she knew only as Deara.
When the victim refused to follow Lewis outside, charging documents indicate Lewis told her: "If I have to I'll snatch you out of store I will," before throwing what the victim described as bleach in her face. A tussle ensued, at which point another woman joined in to assist Lewis. During the fight the victim's purse was stolen, containing her cell phone, makeup, wallet and house key.
While examining the crime scene, Deputy Banach reportedly found a "blue substance that smelled like cleaner on the counter," believed to the substance Lewis allegedly threw in the victim's face.
In June, Deputy Banach was able to show the victim a photo montage - from which, according to charging documents, she "immediately pointed to" a photo of Lewis.
