YORK, SC (WBTV) -
Police in York are investigating after a naked woman ran from her home after she says she was beaten and choked by her ex-boyfriend.
According to the York Police Department, officers were called to a home along the 200 block of Fairview Circle on Saturday afternoon to the report of an assault.
A neighbor called police after seeing a naked woman running from her home.
When officers arrived, they found the woman who said she was sitting on her couch when her ex-boyfriend, 28-year-old John William Dawkins, walked into the home with a key he had taken from her previously.
The woman told officers that the two began to argue and she picked up a phone to call police.
That's when she said Dawkins knocked the phone out of her hand and began to punch her in the face with his closed fist.
She tried to run out of the back of the home, she told police, when Dawkins knocked her to the ground and began choking her and dragging her on the ground.
Dawkins then got into a car with a North Carolina tag and drove away from the home, she told police.
The woman suffered several lacerations and abrasions, a swollen lip and a bloody face from the incident, police told WBTV.
