An Orinda man used a machete to hack his live-in companion to death, prosecutors said Thursday in charging him with murder.
Neighbors have reported hearing the couple fighting on many occasions - including the morning of the slaying - and that they mostly heard her yelling at him.
This is very local news. Orinda is one of those towns that things like this just don't happen. However, this is the same town that Susan Polk lived and killed her husband. It is kind of crazy.

I live in the next town over and drive by this guy's house almost daily. I drove by on Tuesday afternoon around 3:30 PM. There were news vans on one side of the street and crime scene tape around the house and 2 of the neighbor houses. There were also at least 6 police standing in the front yard. I had a feeling it wasn't something like a burglary. I always noticed this house when driving by because it almost appeared deserted. It just seemed like there was 2 or 3 old cars in the driveway. Never saw the door open or anyone outside.
