AMADOR COUNTY, CA - A large rail car being used as a bridge at an Amador County business was stolen on May 31 and later dismantled to be sold as scrap metal.

According to the Amador County Sheriff's Office, Sierra Pacific Industries (SPI) reported a large rail car was stolen from their premises off Fiddletown Road in El Dorado County.

Then on June 1, an SPI employee notified the Amador County Sheriff's Office that the stolen rail car had been located on a parcel of property near Bootstrap Rd. in Amador County.

Deputies responded to the location and an ensuing investigation confirmed David Glenn Parsons, 42, and Troy Allen Whisler, 42, both of Pioneer, had stolen the rail car and were dismantling it to sell for scrap.

About two-thirds of the car had already been sold off by the time deputies were called to the scene.

During the investigation of the property, deputies also uncovered an unreported stolen truck and several items stolen from the California Department of Transportation, County of Amador and United States Postal Service. Also discovered at the location were three large storage containers locked with SPI padlocks.

Parson and Whisler were arrested and charged with possession of stolen property and violation of probation.
