A 19-year-old faces jail after he battered his new dog with a hammer, stabbed it in the chest and left it to die in agony.

Unemployed Sean Deakin left the male Staffordshire bull terrier dying on the kitchen floor of his flat while he went to the JobCentre to sign on.

The cruel youth returned to find the dog - which he had owned only a few days - lying immobile and vomiting.

In all, the dog - named Tyson - took eight agonising hours to die. A witness to the attack alerted RSPCA officers, who found Tyson's body in a wheelie bin outside Deakin's home four days later.

Deakin was arrested and charged with three counts of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.

He denied the offences but was found guilty at Manchester magistrates court and now faces up to six months behind bars.

At around 3am, he struck the dog around 20 times on the head with a hammer. No explanation was given in court. Three hours later, Deakin woke and noticed the dog had urinated on his bed.

He chased it around the kitchen, trapped it between his legs and stabbed in it the chest with a six-inch knife he had grabbed from a drawer.

Deakin then went to sign on, returning shortly before Tyson died at 2pm. Inspector Danielle Jennings, of the RSPCA, said the attack was the worst case she had ever encountered.

Chairman of the Bench Hugh Keachie told Deakin the starting point for such crimes was a custodial sentence.

He said: 'As a bench this offence absolutely appalled us and we need to make sure you understand how serious this is.'

Tame pleaded guilty to one count of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal at an earlier hearing for not seeking veterinary attention for Tyson.

Deakin, formerly of Birchfield Avenue, Atherton, Wigan, will be sentenced at Manchester magistrates court on June 28.

Unemployed my arse, up shit creek now, I think so. The so called big guys like their little psycho bitches on a leash, ready for commands. They don't like, in my experience, people who torture domestic animals, especially Dogs. If I were him I wouldn't be worrying too much about the the Prison sentence, I'm not involved in this. But think I can safely say that if he tries to get to the witness, it probably won't turn out too pretty .

If he had struck the dog 20 times in the head with the hammer at 3 am how on Earth did that dog manage to jump up and pee on his bed 3 hours later? Either way I'm glad the dog pissed all over his bed. If you hit me in the head with a hammer I would piss on your bed too.

What the hell is wrong with the witness? If I saw anyone hurting a dog, it would be pretty bad for them. At the very least I'd call the cops.

We don't know who the witness is, strong chance it's someone younger, likely a girl. Jacked up bloke stalking around with a hammer, self preservation kicks in. Better he took whatever rage he had out on the dog. Shite as that sounds. Probably took a lot of guts to come forward at all. This guys a psycho, and the witness will always be looking over their shoulder, though the way things seem to work round here He'll be seen as a loose cannon and taken care of as such, none of my business. Though I'd kick ass if anyone tried to hurt an animal or anyone else in front of me too.

Actually, from what I understand, it's a cry of help to the dog's 'god' - when a dog pees on a bed, it's a serious sign there's something physically wrong as in go-to-the-vet, not scold the poor thing. The damndest thing of it was that poor dog's 'god' was a demon of the lowest order, there was no mercy to be found.

Cats, on the other hand, I admire them but they're still pretty much a mystery to me for I grew up with dogs.

I fully expect to hear more about this asshole after he's done with the punishment for this. He sounds like a budding serial killer in the making, starting out by killing animals.

I'm GLAD the dog pissed on his bed. I WISH the dog could have pissed on HIM.

@eccentric, my lovely old cat managed a huge shit in my "unpleasant" exe's trainers. She also clawed his ass, literally, and pissed on his side of the bed, under the duvet, lol. They're bloody clever Agree with your theory of Dogs too though. Some right shits out there. Bring back licencing and maybe tax breeders, put a stop to all this.
