The 19-year-old man was attacked in an apartment complex in Lodi near Katzakian Park.
Witnesses gave police a description of the suspect's car. Other officers on the way were able to track down the car when they saw it speed past them in the opposite direction.
The driver of the car, Samantha Steman, refused to stop when approached by police. Steman was eventually arrested and charged with DUI, evading police and child endangerment since she had her one-year-old son in the car.
The stabbing suspect, Buck Marchand, who was also in the car, had been released from prison last Thursday and is on parole for assault with a deadly weapon. He has been charged with attempted murder and parole violation.
