Orlando investigators said Curtis Walden got into a fight with another man over a girl at a Mobil gas station last Friday.
Walden called his friends Cortez Hughes and Willie Underwood for help.
Investigators said Hughes pulled out a gun and opened fire and a stray bullet hit Walden in the head, killing him.
"One of the friends gets out of the car and starts shooting," said Sgt. Vince Ogburn, of the Orlando Police Department.
Police said his friends left him in the parking lot of the gas station to die.
Detectives believe Hughes pulled the trigger. They said Underwood is charged because he acted as the getaway driver.

Hughes and Underwood could face life sentences if convicted, police said.

Detectives used surveillance video and other leads to locate the shooter, Hughes, and the driver, Underwood.
Both men lied to detectives about their involvement during interviews but evidence connected them to the crime, police said.
Hughes and Underwood were arrested Thursday and charged with second-degree murder, police said.
Detectives said as a convicted felon, Hughes had no business having a gun. He also was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Underwood was also charged with attempted accessory after the fact.
