Mao Sugiyama, a self-described "asexual" from Tokyo, cooked up, seasoned and served his own genitalia to five diners at a swanky banquet in Japan last month, Calorie Lab reported.

Sugiyama sparked a firestorm of interest on April 8 with one tweet:

"[Please retweet] I am offering my male genitals (full penis, testes, scrotum) as a meal for 100,000 yen …Will prepare and cook as the buyer requests, at his chosen location."

Just days after Sugiyama's 22nd birthday, the artist underwent elective genital-removal surgery, divvied up the severed penis shaft, testicles, and scrotal skin between five people, and garnished it with button mushrooms and Italian parsley.

On April 13, five of six diners who signed up for the $250-a-plate feast, sat down to dinner. The sixth person was a no-show.

The story went viral in Japan. Some showed even more interest, while others complained. But Calorie Lab called Japanese authorities, who deemed the banquet legal because there is no law against cannibalism in the country.

Rocky Mountain Oysters
With a very sharp knife, split the tough skin-like muscle that surrounds each "oyster." Remove the skin.
In a large bowl or pot, dissolve 1/2 cup sugar and 3/4 cup kosher salt in 8 cups cold of water (water should cover the "oysters); add the oysters; cover and let set for 1 hour. Drain and rinse under cool water. Place "oysters" back into the bowl or pot (which has been rinsed clean) and pour enough milk over them to cover. Cover the bowl and let set for another hour. Drain and rinse well under cool water. These two steps help to draw the blood out. The milk-soak also helps to draw out the saltiness.
Transfer "oysters" to a large pot. Add the vinegar and enough cold water to cover "oysters". Bring to a boil. Reduce heat immediately and simmer for about 6 minutes. Drain again and plunge the cooked "oysters" into large bowl of ice water. Let stand until cool.
Slice each "oyster" into 1/4 to 1/3-inch thick ovals. Sprinkle with salt and pepper on both sides to taste.
Place the milk in a shallow bowl. Mix the wine and hot sauce to taste in a shallow bowl. In another shallow bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal and garlic powder to taste in a shallow bowl.
Dredge each "oyster" slice in the flour mixture. Dip into milk, then into the flour mixture. Dip into the wine mixture quickly. (Repeat procedure if a thicker crust is desired).
Fry oysters in hot oil until golden on both sides, being careful not to overcook the "oysters", since the longer they cook the tougher they become. Serve hot.

Japanese police are weighing up whether an 'asexual' man who cooked his own severed genitals and served them to five paying diners committed a crime, it has emerged.

In tweets on May 18, the artist said steps were taken so his act met all relevant laws, including a ban on organ sales, processing of medical waste and even food sanitation requirements.

Sugiyama made guests sign a waiver so he was not responsible if they became ill after eating his genitalia.

The dinner party organiser joked before the event that he would be posting his recipe online. Guests said that the genitalia were very rubbery and tasted of very little, CalorieLab.com reported.

Sugiyama, who is an illustrator, has also had his nipples removed. As an asexual, his genitalia will not be replaced with artificial female ones.

I really don't see the crime in this. He didn't want his junk and others did, everyone was of age, everyone was informed, it appears no one was harmed in a way they didn't want. It's not like he'll be a repeat offender of having his junk removed and feeding it to people, unless he's part starfish and grows new parts.

But it is one of the most disgusting things I have seen anyone eat.
