Rob Joiner Arrested For Murder, Elizabeth Joiner Killed Days After Filing For Divorce

    Robert Joiner
A Converse man suspected of killing his estranged wife on Mother's Day was arrested on a murder warrant Saturday.

Robert Joiner, 43, is being held on $250,000 bond, accused of shooting his wife, Elizabeth Joiner, 44, in the head in the early morning of May 13 in their home on Meadow Drive, according to police.

Robert Joiner originally told a neighbor and the police that his wife shot herself in the head, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. In an interview with police where he was told his story did not match evidence found at the scene, police say he confessed, saying he placed the gun against her head, uttered an expletive, and pulled the trigger. He also demonstrated the action, according to the affidavit.

Rex Rheiner, assistant chief of the Converse Police Department, said Joiner has since recanted the confession and now maintains the death was a suicide.

“He's in denial right now,” Rheiner said. “Things didn't add up when we got there.”

A neighbor who asked not to be named said she knew Elizabeth Joiner for 30 years, that she was a dedicated mother to the couple's 12-year-old son and an artist by trade, designing signs for a local company.

Elizabeth Joiner, known to friends and family as Libby, moved out of the home about a year ago, the neighbor said. According to online Bexar County records, she filed for divorce this month.

Rheiner said Elizabeth Joiner was at the home the night of the shooting to talk to her husband, but it was unclear about what.

The neighbor said Robert Joiner knocked on her front door about 1 a.m. and asked them to call 911.

Police found Elizabeth Joiner bleeding but alive and rushed her to San Antonio Military Medical Center, where she later died, the affidavit says.

It's kinda hard to fake something like this due to the fact that they already have formulas and geometric algorithms to determine angle of trajectory for the bullet and for the gun, gun powder burns and stipling on the wound not to mention whether there is powder residue on the victims hands all helps them figure out whether the death was an actual suicide or murder by someone watching too much CSI.
Razors pain you, rivers are damp, acid stains you, drugs cause cramps, gun aren't lawful, nooses give, gas smells awful, you might as well live.
