BEAVERDAM, Ohio – A baby girl just three days old was mauled to death by a dog as she sat in a baby swing at her family's Ohio home.

Makayla Darnell was attacked by the family pet, identified by the Toledo Blade as a four or five-year-old pit bull, as she sat in the living room of the Beaverdam home.

Her parents -- Audrianna Myers and Jared Darnell -- who were in the kitchen said they did not hear a sound from either the baby or the dog until after Thursday evening's attack. They rushed Makayla to the hospital, but she could not be saved.
