It all began when 62-year-old Enrique Milla, a married man of 25 years, went to a doctor to discuss his sexual dysfunction.

After consulting with a urologist, Milla decided to have a penile implant, cbs4.com reports.

His attorney Spence Aronfeld told CBS4 news partners Newsradio610 WIOD that the decision was a huge mistake.

"The problem is that Mr. Milla has uncontrolled diabetes and it is absolutely, 100 percent, contraindicated – which means it should not be done on anyone with uncontrolled diabetes because diabetics have a rate of infection (higher than) people who don't have diabetes," said Aronfeld.

Milla went ahead with the surgery and developed a very serious infection, which caused his penis to become gangrenous. It was then removed.

"The man will live the rest of his life without his penis," Aronfeld said.

Aronfeld said because of the doctor's negligence, Milla's life has been irreparably changed.

"When he has to urinate, he has to sit down and urinate like a woman. He can't go to the beach. He can't make love to his wife. He has not worked since the procedure. He's basically living his life in complete seclusion," Aronfeld said.

Milla is suing for pain, suffering and unspecified damages. His wife is also suing for separate damages.

Just writing this made us feel so bad for the couple. What we need now is a stiff drink.

When I saw the headline I actually laughed out loud -- now I'm feeling the slightest twinge of sympathy for this guy... But seriously, he had to know this was risky, and who the fuck is his doctor?! And how do you put a monetary value on sex? I'm not asking this in a "it's-such-a spiritual-kind-of thing-way." But honestly, his wife is suing for HER losses. Does the other side argue maybe he wasn't that good so they should pay less? Do they bring in his exes and they testify to his sexual prowess? Lol, that would be an interesting trial.

Lawyer says anesthesiologist not at fault

MIAMI -
A medical malpractice lawsuit is playing out in a Miami courtroom after a man had elective surgery to help keep the spark alive in his marriage, but then said things went very wrong.

Enrique Milla attended Wednesday's proceedings via Skype from Peru, where he and his wife now live.

"This has been devastating, painful and embarrassing," said Milla's attorney, Spencer Aronfeld.
Milla's most private and personal horror, with photographs, played out in a public courtroom as he blamed he anesthesiologist for decisions that led to an infection and eventual amputation after his elective surgery for a penile implant.

"He failed to evaluate properly the risks of this procedure for this patient," Aronfeld said.

Milla, a diabetic, contended that anesthesiologist Dr. Laurentiu Boeru signed off on the surgery, though his vital signs suggested high risk that morning in August 2007 at Coral Gables Hospital, putting profit over patient safety.

But the post-operation infection that consumed Milla's privates and led to the amputation occurred more than a week later.

"Post-operative period is about anywhere between six to 24 hours after surgery. It does not include either days or months," Boeru said.

"This is an infection that occurred in this gentleman because he didn't do what he was supposed to do post-operatively nine days after the surgery," said Jay Chimpoulis, Boeru's attorney.

Chimpoulis suggested that Milla ignored post-op instructions to avoid sex or did some other action that might have caused a fecal infection.

"There are any number of ways he could've gotten that. None of them had anything to do with this guy," Chimpoulis said.

There are tens of millions of dollars at stake. The jury will eventually be asked whether the doctor acted reasonably.

Florida – A man is suing after an infection from a penile implant resulted in his penis having to be removed.
Back in 2007, 65-year-old Enrique Milla elected to have the implant placed to help with his erectile dysfunction. He wasn’t trying to make his dick bigger than it was when it worked, he just wanted the betraying bastard to work, period.
This particular procedure involves inflatable balloons*inserted in the two tubes of the penis. A small pump and a reservoir of fluid are placed in the patient’s scrotum and connected to the balloons. Whenever an erection is desired, the person simply squeezes his third ball and the balloons are filled with the fluid.
Two weeks after having this procedure performed in a Florida hospital, Milla’s penis got infected and turned gangrene. Doctor’s had no choice but to amputate his penis in order to save his life. In 2009, Milla filed a malpractice lawsuit blaming*his anesthesiologist, Dr. Laurentiu Boeru, and Dr. Paul Perito, the urologist who performed the surgery.
Milla, a diabetic with high blood pressure, claims that Boeru did not *asses his medical condition and signed off on the surgery even though his vital signs*suggested high risk the morning of the procedure.…
