KY Cold Case—Jane Doe Discovered, Rings Found with Body

The Kentucky State Police (KSP) investigate criminal activity across the entire Commonwealth of Kentucky, and, in many instances, the information provided by individual citizens allows law enforcement officials to make important breakthroughs in difficult cases.

With this in mind, members of the KSP Post 3 in Bowling Green, KY are requesting help from the public in identifying an unknown white female (see approximate clay reconstruction of the female to the right).

Though located near Interstate 65 in Simpson County, KY on October 9th, 2011, investigators believe that the female’s death may have occurred any time throughout the two months prior (August 1st, 2001 – October 1st, 2001). Further analysis of the body revealed that the female was approximately 25-35 years old and around 5’ 6” – 5’ 9” in height.

Other characteristics specific to the victim that may help to indentify her identity are as follows: light reddish-brown hair approximately 12-14 inches long; a healed fracture in the upper right arm near the shoulder; the “outline” tattoo of a rose on the left breast; and many missing or severely decayed teeth.

Additionally, KSP investigators also recovered two rings believed to belong to the female. One ring is a gold band similar to a wedding ring while the other is silver with a painted enamel blue background with flowers and leaves (see photos attached below). Each of the photos displaying the rings was made available/uploaded via the KSP officials on January 13th, 2011.

A cause of death for the female is currently unreleased via the official KSP report.

NOTE: Created by State Forensic Anthropologist Dr. Emily Craig, the three-dimensional facial reconstruction seen in the main photo is based solely on features found on the female’s skull. The recreation is not meant to represent a portrait of the female; it is simply based around scientific guidelines and can only suggest the shape/proportions of the female’s face.

It's likely being edited. I have just discovered the found date is wrong. She was found 2001, not 2011.
ETA: Works for me, but date is still wrong.

It worked this time. I was particularly interested in the blue, flowery ring. Looks quite unusual to me? Is it a type/style that is typical of any area of the US or any ethnic origin/tradition?

Personally I wouldn't know. I don't have interest in jewelry. But maybe I can find out about that one.

The ring may be called a Cloisonne.

Looks like cloisonne rings are not unusual; but I don't see any exactly like the one shown in the picture at that link......

Further info I got:

They are referred to as Guilloche enamel cigar band rings and were quite popular in the '70s. They were sold nationwide by different distributors and were very affordable. Rings just like the one on this Jane Doe can be seen on Ebay.

Not much help, but at least it narrows it down just a little bit more.

Popular thirty years before the likely date of her death. Could she have be wearing her mother's ring? Possibly her mother had passed and she was wearing it as a keep-sake?

I know they are sometimes nothing like as lonely in the World as I'd like to think, these unknown dead. People have families that don't miss them, or they have families that do miss them and don't recognise the unidentified description because of time discrepancies or accidents of geography.......
