UNDATED (WHDH) -- A Connecticut woman was still reeling after an armed attack at her home. She says she was followed home by her attackers who might have gotten away if it weren't for her relatives thousands of miles away.
Not one or two, but five locks secure Natasha Rivera’s door. The bat is in her hand every time she hears someone at the door.
“I don't want to even leave the house,” Rivera said.
Thursday at a building in Hartford, two men with guns followed her into her apartment.
Inside, her boyfriend Augustine was with their 2-year-old daughter Anna Lee. The men got in, shoved Natasha and the baby into the bathroom.
“They said, ‘he's here he's here,’ they came, they pulled out a gun, threw him to floor. They said, ‘give me money give me jewelry,’” Rivera said.
“They threw me on the floor and they put the gun to my head, they were asking me, ‘where’s the money, where is the jewelry?” Rivera’s boyfriend said. "The only thing I have is money that I had left over from my taxes."
As the two men were ransacking the house, what they didn't know was that the family was Skyping with relatives in Puerto Rico before they rushed through the door. The relatives in Puerto Rico were able to see and hear the burglary over the computer and called Hartford Police.
“It's a miracle, ‘cause the audio would have went out. They threw everything this house was a complete mess,” said Rivera.
Police showed up and arrested the men who almost got away with jewelry and $2100. The guns were found hidden in drawers.
