7yo Gunshot Victim Ordered To Walk 1/2 Mile; Tangie Jackson & Ricky Arrested

    Tangie Jackson
    Ricky Singleton
CINCINNATI -- A man and woman are accused of trying to cover up the accidental shooting of a 7-year-old girl.
Police said Tangie Jackson and her boyfriend, Ricky Singleton, created an elaborate lie in an attempt to fool investigators.
Police said the girl and her 3-year-old sibling found Singleton's gun inside their home on West North Bend Road. The gun accidentally went off and the older girl was shot in the back, police said.
According to the police report, Singleton hid the gun in a closet. Police said he then ordered the children, including the victim, to walk half a mile from home before he called 911:
911 operator: "Do you know who shot your daughter?"
Caller: "No, we just, we've been, no, they just, all I seen we just started running, she said her back was burning. We stopped. We saw her holding her back."
Singleton ordered the children to tell investigators they were injured during a drive-by shooting, police said.
Jackson and Singleton were charged with tampering with evidence, endangering children and obstructing official business.
"They do everything with their kids. They go everywhere with 'em and we never seen any kind of neglect or anything from them," neighbor Terry Clark said. "Probably gonna bust their family up. Nothing good is going to come out of this."
A judge set bond at $150,000 for Singleton, who has a lengthy criminal record, including previous firearms charges.
Jackson's arraignment was scheduled for Saturday.

"They'll have no unsupervised contact with their parents. We'll investigate and we'll determine, you know, what steps need to be taken to make sure these children are safe," Hamilton County Job and Family Services' Brian Gregg said.

You are damn right this is going to bust up the family. Any "parent" who would try to cover up their kid's shooting deserves to not have kids.

Since this is not Detroit (the drive-by capitol of the free world) but Cincinnati, you know them cops saw thru this stupid shit almost immediately. I wonder why folks think the cops are so dumb.

And yeah I would expect that this would break up the family, in fact, I insist on it.

What stupidity, why turn an accident into something criminal? Now they are going to lose their kids, face charges, and have to pay a shit ton of money all over something that would have been no big deal if they would have just come clean in the first place. Unless there were other circumstances that would have made criminal charges appropriate even with the shooting being an accident, I don't get it, why be so stupid?

He is probably a felon on parole. That is the only reason i can see freaking out like this over an accident.
