Hot Dog Vender Catherine Scalia Charged With Prostitution

(CBS/WCBS) NEW YORK - Police in Nassau County have arrested 45-year-old Catherine Scalia after detectives say she was offering up more than kraut and relish from her roadside hot dog truck.

Scalia, of East Rockaway, was arrested Thursday after authorities said she offered to engage in sexual conduct at her home with an undercover detective in return for money. The undercover cop bought two hot dogs from her truck parked near Sunrise Highway in Baldwin, N.Y. The cop also noticed suggestive business cards offering services you don't usually get from a food vendor, CBS New York reported.
According to officials, Scalia would inform customers to respond to her home where she would perform assorted sexual acts in exchange for money.

"The agreed amount was about $100 and then to further engage in an additional sex act -- it was another $50," said Nassau County Detective Lt. Kevin Smith told CBS New York.

Authorities said she would drum up business and bring clients back to her home in East Rockaway. Neighbors said they're not shocked by the prostitution arrest.

"She was leaving little cards around CVS for naked house cleaning, topless house cleaning," one neighbor told CBS New York.

The hot dog truck now sits in the driveway of the home that neighbors said Scalia grew up in and where she raised triplets who are now teenagers.

Hey, a ho's gotta eat. I give her credit for being nothing if not determined. Hell, she even passed business cards out for topless house cleaning! If only she put all that effort into something more productive, she'd be a force to be reckoned with! I love how unapologetic she is.

Long Island’s so-called “hot dog hooker” returned to selling hot dogs again, fresh off pleading guilty to prostitution.

Back in her bikini top, Cathy Scalia briefly reclaimed her post on Sunrise Highway in Baldwin Wednesday morning.

Customers were flocking and the horns were honking as the 45-year-old East Rockaway woman fought through the pouring rain to reopen her hot dog truck after spending five days behind bars.

“Get some wiggle with your wieners,” she shouted to customers.

However, she ran into some problem and had to pack it up. Scalia was chased from her post on Sunrise Highway by police for parking on private property and for not having a peddlers permit.

“They chased me off the property,” Scalia told CBS 2′s Carolyn Gusoff. “I thought it was an abandoned piece of property.”

I wouldn't buy anything from her, she looks nasty, let alone something that will go into my mouth. She probably doesn't even wash her hands....think I am going to puke thinking about it.
