Naples, FL – Maurice Sendak, author of “Where the Wild Things Are,” has died, but take heart, friends.* One of his fantastical creations is alive and well in Florida.
The vision of beauty to the left is Angela Rhodes, 52.* She has been accused of beating her ex-boyfriend, Thommy*Whidden, 48, with a one-handed sledgehammer (please spare us the Peter Gabriel references in the comments).
This, dear readers, puts her squarely in the running for “Ex-Girlfriend of the Year”* as far as I’m concerned, but that is not the only award for which I am nominating her on this fine day.* You’ll have to read a little further for that nugget.
The fight that landed Whidden critically injured in the hospital was reportedly over his bid to cease his 18-year relationship with the pictured gorgon.
Rhodes’s son, Michael Thompson, was present at the start of the argument, but reportedly opted to leave the scene, thinking it was “just another spat” between the two.* I admit that just Rhodes’s presence would have been enough to create an ugly scene, but things were about to get far uglier.
At some point after Thompson’s departure, police suspect that Rhodes got all bashy with Whidden’s cranium, leaving him lying in the street with blood oozing from his nose, eyes, and mouth and what I suspect was a pretty formidable headache; and that’s how responding officers found him.* He had not been turned to solid stone as I would have expected.…
