New Haven police have arrested a man they say kidnapped a woman, threatened her with a gun and forced her to drive him around the city to get drugs.
Police say 43-year-old Albert Leclaire, of West Haven, flagged the woman down on Brewery Street.
The victim says she thought the man needed help, so she pulled over.
Police say Leclaire showed her he had a gun and climbed in the car.
Leclaire demanded that she take him to several different ATMs, and after each withdrawal she had to drive to the Franklin Street public housing complex so he could buy drugs, according to police.
The woman was able to text message her boyfriend her location, and he was able to call police.
Just after 7 a.m. Sunday, the boyfriend spotted the car on Wooster Place and police surrounded the car.
They reportedly found Leclaire with his pants and underwear down to his ankles.
Police say he tried to get the victim to perform a sexual act, but she refused.

Police in New Haven said a woman who was kidnapped Sunday morning sent text messages to her boyfriend for help and eventually led to her rescue.
Albert Leclaire, 43, of East Haven, is set to appear before a judge Monday in New Haven Superior Court on charges that include kidnapping, robbery and attempted sexual assault.

The woman was able to send text messages to her boyfriend starting at around 6 a.m. and was able to keep him updated on her location.
Police said the boyfriend was able to locate her vehicle about an hour later, and was able to tell police the location.
Officers then surrounded the vehicle and said Leclaire was found with his pants and underwear pulled to his ankles and was trying to get the woman to perform a sexual act on him.
Police said she refused.
