Bain Sisters & Mom May Be In Extreme Danger After Abduction *2 found/2 deceased*

Three Tennessee sisters "may be in extreme danger" after allegedly being abducted late last month by their mother and a man possibly carrying a gun, the state bureau of investigation said Saturday.

An Amber Alert was issued Saturday for the siblings -- 14-year-old Adrienne Bain, 12-year-old Alexandra Bain and 8-year-old Kyliyah Bain. They were last seen April 27 in Whiteville, a town of about 4,600 people in western Tennessee.

The possibly armed male suspect, Adam Mayes, cut his own hair and may have done the same to the three children, according to the Amber Alert from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. The 35-year-old man -- who has blue eyes and brown hair, weighs about 175 pounds and stands 6 feet, 3 inches tall -- was last seen May 1 in Guntown, Mississippi.

Authorities also describe the children's mother, 31-year-old Jo Ann Bain, as a suspect.

The suspects and children may be en route to Arizona or Mississippi, according to the Amber Alert. Mayes has connections to Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida.

Mississippi police have issued an Amber Alert after new details have led them to determine a missing Tennessee mother and her three daughters were abducted and could be in extreme danger.

Jo Ann Bain and her daughters Adrienne, 14; Alexandria, 12; and Kyliyah, 8; have been missing since April 27. They were last seen leaving their home in Whiteville, which is located between Jackson and Memphis, on the morning of their disappearance.

The FBI says two bodies have been found in Mississippi during the search for a missing Tennessee woman and her three children, but the identities are not known.

FBI spokesman Joel Siskovic said the bodies were found late Friday night or early Saturday morning in Guntown, Miss., in a residence associated with the man charged with abducting Jo Ann Bain and her children.
    [...]

Authorities had said that Mayes could be in Mississippi but that he has ties to Arizona, Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida.

The FBI, in a press release Saturday, did not say whose bodies were discovered. But the federal agency did identify the man who they believe "is responsible for their disappearance" as Adam Mayes, saying an arrest warrant has been issued for him.

The husband of Jo Ann Bain, 31, reported his wife and the three girls -- 14-year-old Adrienne Bain, 12-year-old Alexandra Bain and 8-year-old Kyliyah Bain -- missing on April 27, according to the FBI. They were last seen in Whiteville, a town of about 4,600 people in western Tennessee.

Authorities "initiated contact early in the investigation" with Mayes, who was "considered a friend of the family," but he fled, the FBI said.

GUNTOWN, Miss. (AP) — Authorities say they have found the bodies of a missing Tennessee mother and her 14-year-old daughter behind a house in north Mississippi.

The FBI said in a news release late Monday that the bodies of Jo Ann Bain and her 14-year-old daughter Adrienne Bain have been positively identified.

Good Lord where are the other two children? Do you think he kept them to do bad things I don't even want to put into words? I imagine if he killed them too he would have just left the bodies with the mother and sister. This breaks my heart. I hope they find them before it's too late (if it's not already) Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. In my heart I know why he kept the younger girls. I know it....fuck. It sucks when the law knows they are in danger and still cannot help them. They are younger and weaker and I'm guessing they are severely tramatized at either seeing their mom and sister killed or if they didn't see it just up and leaving without them since the mom and big sister probably tried to comfort the younger one's during this whole ordeal. FUCK. Sorry....that's all I can say.

The FBI said it believed Bain’s two other daughters — 12-year-old Alexandria and 8-year-old Kyliyah — were still with Adam Mayes. The agency did not say in a news release why it thought that. Mayes may be using two different aliases, the FBI said.

FBI spokesman Joel Siskovic said no further details were available on the bodies or the search for Mayes and the two girls.

Mayes, a longtime friend of Bain’s husband, had stayed over at the family’s house the night before the abduction to help them pack for a move to Arizona, authorities said. When Gary Bain awoke on the morning of April 27, his wife, three daughters and Mayes were gone, but Bain was not immediately alarmed, said Tennessee Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Kristin Helm.

“He woke up after the kids typically go to school,” Helms said. “It was normal for them to be gone because the kids would normally have been gone to school.”

But after Gary Bain couldn’t reach his wife on her cell phone and the girls didn’t get off the school bus later that day, he reported them missing.
    [...]

Jo Ann Bain’s Facebook page showed in the days before the four disappeared she was packing and working on homework. Her last post, dated April 26, said “a good venting always makes you feel better.” It didn’t say why she was venting.
    [...]

Linda Kirkland, a family friend and cook at the Country Cafe in Whiteville, said the woman and her daughters were moving to Arizona because two of the girls had asthma and hoped the dry climate would help.

“Jo Ann and the kids, everyone loves them. We’re just hoping to hear that they’re safe,” she said.
    [...]

On Monday, Mississippi state troopers who stopped vehicles and searched their trunks along State Route 30 near Guntown said they were conducting a manhunt for Mayes.

Officers also searched the yard of a home near Guntown that’s been linked to Mayes.

A web of ties connects Mayes to the missing woman and her family. They were all known around Whiteville, a town of about 4,500 people.

Mayes has been described as a friend of the family. Gary Bain and Mayes were once married to sisters, Helm said.

While authorities say Mayes is likely to be armed and extremely dangerous, acquaintances described him as friendly, helpful and like an uncle to the girls.

Gerald Long, 60, of Jackson, said he last saw Mayes about two years ago. He said Mayes lived across the street from him for about a year with his wife, Teresa. He described Mayes as a “sociable person.”

He was helpful, Long said. “He didn’t seem violent or anything.”

As for his relationship with his wife, Long said “they were always up and down about things.” Long would not elaborate.

The neighbor said he thought Mayes and his wife are no longer together.

Adam Mayes' mother, Mary, left, and his wife, Teresa, are in jail in connection to the kidnapping of a mother and her three daughters.
Mayes' wife, Teresa, and his mother, Mary Frances, are both in the Hardeman County Jail. Teresa is charged with four counts of especially aggravated kidnapping. Mary is charged with four counts of conspiracy to commit especially aggravated kidnapping.
The two women were arraigned Tuesday morning.
In the police affidavit, it is revealed that Teresa Mayes admits that she was involved in taking the Bain family from Hardeman County by driving them to Union County, Mississippi.
The affidavit also says that Mary Frances Mayes knew about the crimes.
Teresa's sister, Bobbi Booth, had shocking things to say to Action News 5 about what her sister told her about the murders of Jo Ann Bain and her 14-year-old daughter, Adrienne. Their bodies were found in the backyard of a home in Alpine, Mississippi.
Booth said her sister admitted to her that the two were murdered by Mayes.
"She knew he dug the grave. That was my understanding of the conversation with her because I was yelling at her. I'm like 'You what?' You know. What she said, 'I saw him digging a hole,'" Booth told Action News 5.

Great my heart just broke. What a group of homocidal hillbilly fuckoffs. Who do they think they are the Devil's Rejects? Why did he do this? Was he jealous of thhe life his friend had? A loving family a stable job a normal home life. How tragic to let someone you think you know into your home and then have them perpetrate a heinous act against you and your family for no discernible reason.
Razors pain you, rivers are damp, acid stains you, drugs cause cramps, gun aren't lawful, nooses give, gas smells awful, you might as well live.

Two young sisters, Alexandria and Kyliyah Bain, were the targets of a kidnapping plot that involved the killing of their mother and older sister, a Tennessee court document states.

The girls are 12 and 8, respectively, and are believed to be with Adam Mayes, a fugitive slated to join the ranks of the FBI's 10 most wanted Wednesday afternoon.

Mayes' wife Teresa Mayes and his mother Mary Frances Mayes are in custody, but he continues to evade a small army of 17 law enforcement agencies and hundreds of personnel.

Adam and Teresa Mayes each have been charged with two counts of first degree murder and two counts of especially aggravated kidnapping. Adam Mayes faces an additional count of making a false report, an affidavit shows.

The reward for information leading to Mayes' capture is now $71,000, including a combination of state and federal agency reward money.

In an interview with police, Teresa Mayes said Adam Mayes' intended to take Alexandria and Kyliyah from their home in Hardeman County, Tennessee, the affidavit states.

Teresa was in the Bains' garage where Adam Mayes killed Jo Ann Bain and her daughter Adrienne, she told police.

"Both murders were directly a part of the kidnapping" of the two younger girls, the document alleges.

Adam and Teresa Mayes then transported the bodies to Union County, Mississippi, where they were discovered May 4 in a shallow grave behind Adam Mayes' mother's house in Guntown.

Mayes, 35, is believed to be armed and dangerous and with Bain's two youngest daughters.

Mayes is believed to still be in the area.
    [...]

Bobbi Booth, Teresa Mayes' sister, spoke to CNN's Anderson Cooper on Tuesday about Adam Mayes and his relationship with her sister, who she said has mental health problems.

"I've known Adam for at least 25 years, and he's always been weird and unusual ... but I never dreamed he would do something like this," she said.

She described him as aggressive and not trustworthy. He beat and threatened to kill her sister, said Booth, who pleaded with him to "do the right thing."

"Just let the children go. This has gone on way too far, and we need to figure out what's going on, and it's not fair to the children," she said.

Officials are increasing the reward money and manpower as they pressed their search Wednesday for Adam Mayes, wanted in connection with the kidnapping of a Tennessee woman and her three children.

Officials released a surveillance video of Mayes, 35, appearing calm with a recent haircut as he approached the counter in a convenience store in Union County, Miss.

The video was taken about three days after four members of the Bain family were last seen April 27 in their western Tennessee home, about 80 miles from the store.

GUNTOWN, Miss. — A Mississippi man killed a Tennessee mother and her teenage daughter so he could abduct two young sisters who are still missing, according court documents filed Wednesday, and a relative says the suspect thought the two younger girls might be his daughters.

The developments gave the first hint of a motive in the case that began in southwest Tennessee, stretched into Mississippi and led the FBI to put 35-year-old Adam Christopher Mayes on its 10 Most Wanted list. Authorities said they think the missing girls, 12-year-old Alexandria and 8-year-old Kyliyah Bain, are still with Mayes nearly two weeks after he took them.

Mayes' mother-in-law told The Associated Press that Mayes thought he might be the girls' father and it caused trouble in the marriage to her daughter, who's jailed in the case.

"She was tired of him doting on those two little girls that he claimed were his," Josie Tate said in an exclusive phone interview with The Associated Press on Wednesday. In an earlier interview, Tate's daughter Bobbi Booth said Teresa Mayes suspected her husband was having an affair with Jo Ann Bain.
Authorities refused to comment on the motive for the April 27 slayings and abductions at a Wednesday news conference.

Mayes and his wife, Teresa, were charged in Bolivar, Tenn., on Wednesday with first-degree murder in the deaths of Jo Ann Bain and 14-year-old Adrienne Bain. Their bodies were found buried outside the Mayes' home near Guntown, Miss., a week after they were reported missing by Jo Ann Bain's husband, Gary.

Teresa Mayes told investigators she saw her husband kill the two in the garage at the Bain home near Whiteville, Tenn., and then she drove him, the younger girls and the bodies to Mississippi, affidavits filed in court say.

The mother and older girl were killed so Mayes could take the younger sisters, the affidavit said.

Federal authorities pleaded for the public's help in finding the sisters and urged Mayes to surrender.

"Turn the girls in, and then peaceably and safely turn yourself in to law enforcement," FBI Special Agent Aaron Ford said at the news conference.

Officials said the reward for information "leading directly to the arrest" of Mayes is now $175,000.

Since the manhunt began for Mayes, people who knew him and the Bains have described him as unusually close to the family and the girls. He was described as a friend of Gary Bain, and the children considered him an uncle.

He was often at the Bain home. Authorities said he was spending the night there before the mother and daughters disappeared so he could help the family to pack for a planned move to Tucson, Ariz., and then drive their belongings west.

Authorities said Alexandria has brown hair and hazel eyes and is 5 feet tall and 105 pounds. Kyliyah has blonde hair and brown eyes and is 4 feet tall and 57 pounds.

Sixteen-year-old Megan Ervin of Whiteville said at a Tuesday night vigil for the victims that she was a softball teammate of Adrienne Bain last year. She said Mayes spent time at the ballpark, often coming to see the Bain girls play.

"He was always here and everybody saw him," Megan said. "He was around all these kids all the time."

Ervin said she never spoke to Mayes.

"When I first saw him, I kind of had a bad vibe about him, so I just kind of stayed away," Ervin said. "But then I saw him here all the time and I figured he's no threat to us because he's always here.

    "Obviously, that wasn't true."

Mayes' mother-in-law, who lives in Chatsworth, Ga., said she's known him for 25 years but didn't approve of him because his family never seemed to stay in one place and he couldn't hold down a job.

"Teresa's father and I begged her: 'Do not marry him, do not go off with him, do not live with him," she said.

Tate described her daughter as a slow learner who spent her school life in special education. Teresa Mayes was also incapable of having her own children, she said.

The mother said she believed Mayes had threatened her daughter and perhaps his own mother, Mary Frances Mayes, who has also been charged with conspiracy to commit especially aggravated kidnapping.

Mary Mayes' attorney, Somerville attorney Terry Dycus, said his client maintains she is not guilty. Dycus said it was too early to discuss what the mother's defense would be.

"She agrees with the authorities that he's possibly dangerous, but her main concern is that the children be returned immediately and safely," Dycus said.

Teresa Mayes faces six felony counts in the case: two first-degree murder charges and four especially aggravated kidnapping charges.

"The feelings I have for Adam are as close to hate as I'll ever come because he's destroyed not only the Bain family but he's destroyed my family too," Tate said.

I hope these children are alive and if they are they aren't being terrorized. I wonder if they know their sister and mother are dead? He needs to be found brought to justice no particular care how that happens.

I wonder if the fact that he thinks these girls are his biologically will keep him from raping them. Maybe, just maybe, he is treating them okay (not sexually abusing them).

Honestly? They kind of look like him.

I don't see the resemblance at all. They look like little versions of their mom and they are absolutely beautiful. Too beautiful to come from someone as deranged as this guy. This just further makes me believe that this guy is a crazy man who was infatuated with his best friend and the life he had. And idk why these two dingy mongrels w/ vaginas helped him. Jealousy on the part of the wife and some sick sort of devotion on the part of the mom is all I can come up with.

I was thinking the eyes, but without seeing the husband, who knows. Stranger things have happened. I would much, much rather that he was the father and took them because he loved them then to think of an 8 year old being raped by a grown man.

She (Teresa Mayes) was tired of him doting on those two little girls that he claimed were his," Josie Tate said in an exclusive phone interview
So she helps kill their mother and sister and transport them across state lines? Are you kidding me? Wow

The Mississippi man suspected of kidnapping four women in a Tennessee family and killing a mother and daughter was caught Thursday evening, police say.

Adam Mayes, 35, on America’s Most Wanted Fugitive List, was caught in Tennessee, Union County Sheriff Jimmy Edwards confirmed.

Police say the two daughters that Mayes allegedly abducted were both found alive and safe.

(Don't judge me for linking to FoxNews. I had no other choice!)

CNN is saying Mayes is dead.

Oh thank God! So fucking tragic regardless but at least they are safe! The only "good" thing to come out of this miserable case is the fact that he didn't kill them as well.
Ugh I wish they could shoot this fucker on sight coz he will immediately be put into PC due to the high profile nature of the case. He'd be dead before the weekend if they didn't, not that anyone would give a flying motherfuck. Well...maybe his mom but fuck that twat she's just as culpable as her murderous offspring.
Hang all three of them by their big toes 50ft off the ground over cement and when their toes break *splat* that's the end of that family tree.

Miss. police chief says kidnap-slaying suspect Adam Mayes has been killed; 2 girls are safe
GUNTOWN, Miss. — Authorities who tracked down a fugitive accused of kidnapping two girls and killing their mother and older sister said they repeatedly ordered him to surrender, but he instead pulled out a pistol and shot himself in the head.

Adam Mayes, 35, was later pronounced dead and the two sisters, Alexandria Bain, 12, and Kyliyah Bain, 8, were rescued Thursday, ending a nearly two-week search that began when Jo Ann Bain and her three daughters disappeared from their Tennessee home April 27.

After getting a tip, law enforcement officers were sent to search a densely wooded area west of Mayes’ home in Guntown, Miss., said Aaron T. Ford, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Memphis, Tenn., office.

At 6:50 p.m. Thursday, an officer saw Alexandria Bain in an area about 100 yards behind a church, Ford said. Officers shouted commands for Mayes to show his hands, Ford said. But Mayes pulled a semiautomatic pistol from his waistband and shot himself in the head, Ford said.

Law enforcement officers moved in to rescue the two girls, who were lying on the ground nearby. Ford said they looked like they had been in the woods for two or three days and were suffering from exposure, dehydration and poison ivy, but were otherwise safe.

“They were immediately given water as they were escorted to safety,” Ford said. The girls were hospitalized “as a precaution,” he said.

“We are very relieved at this event tonight,” Ford said at an early Friday news conference. “We have two little girls that we can return to Tennessee to their family.”

Mayes had been charged with first-degree murder in the April 27 deaths of Jo Ann Bain, 31, and her daughter, Adrienne Bain, 14. Their bodies were found buried outside Mayes’ home a week after they were reported missing by Jo Ann Bain’s husband.

Mayes’ wife, Teresa, also is charged with first-degree murder in the deaths. She told investigators he killed Jo Ann and Adrienne Bain at their Whiteville, Tenn., home so he could abduct the two young sisters, according to court documents.

Ford and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Director Mark Gwyn said authorities still had many unanswered questions and were continuing their investigation. They did not say how the girls and Mayes were able to survive in the woods.

Gwyn did not say whether there was specific evidence of people helping Mayes in Tennessee and Mississippi but added that investigators were still looking into that possibility and anyone found to have helped Mayes would be held responsible.

“Thank God it’s over and the babies are safe,” said Teresa Mayes’ sister, Bobbi Booth. “That’s all that mattered. I’m just glad it turned out the way it did.” [...]

Report: Three more arrested in kidnapping of Tennessee mom, 3 daughters
Three more people have been arrested in the murder of a Tennessee mother and her oldest daughter and abduction of her two other daughters, CNN reported this morning, citing sources.

Adam Mayes, 35, shot himself in the head Thursday evening as authorities, acting on a tip, found him and the two girls near New Albany, Miss..

Alexandria Bain, 12, and Kyliyah Bain, 8, were taken to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis for observation Thursday night and both were released between 2 and 5 a.m. today, although a spokeswoman for Le Bonheur said she did not know to whom the children had been released.

A law enforcement source told CNN that three more arrests had been made. One was arrested for making a false statement and the others for illegal possession of a firearm, the source told CNN.

A fund to help pay for the funeral expenses for the Bain family is set up at The Bank of Fayette County/Hardeman County, 503 Market Street, Bolivar, Tenn.

Adam Mayes had been investigated in 2010 on allegations of child abuse and possessing child pornography, according to records from the Madison County Sheriff's Office in Jackson, Tenn. A family member claimed to have seen Mayes nude as he shaved the legs of a nude 7-year-old girl.

My best friend and I were talking about this case yesterday because they were searching in an area around where she lives in Mississippi. She was afraid the two little girls were dead and I reminded her of Sasha Groene and said I wanted to believe they were still alive and there was a chance to rescue them. I was a bit relieved when I read he took them because he thought they were his and I just kept hoping this, at least, would keep them physically and sexually safe. It is what I am still hoping and waiting to hear.

Authorities: Kidnapped girls didn't eat for days
GUNTOWN, Miss. (AP) - May 11, 2012 (WPVI) -- Hope was fading that two young sisters abducted from their Tennessee home would be found alive two weeks after they vanished: Their kidnapper had already killed their mother and sister, and he was armed with a pistol as officers closed in.

Yet 12-year-old Alexandria and 8-year-old Kyliyah Bain went home to their father Friday alive, with no apparent injuries other than being tired, scared and itchy from poison ivy. They told the officers who found them that they had not had food or water for three days, said Mississippi Highway Patrol Master Sgt. Steve Crawford.

Beverly Goodman, the aunt of the slain mother, Jo Ann Bain, said she was relieved the girls were home but still saddened by the killings of Bain and Bain's 14-year-old daughter Adrienne.
    [...]
An officer combing through the area spotted Alexandria Bain face down on the ground Thursday evening about 100 yards behind a church. They also saw the younger girl and Mayes prone on the ground. Officers yelled for Mayes to show his hands, but he got to his knees, pulled a 9mm pistol from his waistband and shot himself in the head, said Aaron T. Ford, special agent in charge of the FBI's Memphis, Tenn., office. Mayes did not say anything before shooting himself, and he did not brandish the gun toward the girls or officers.

The girls only sat up and stayed in place when Mayes shot himself, said Lt. Lee Ellington with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks.

"They were rather stoic in one sense and relieved," he said. "I heard the older girl tell her sister, 'Now we can go home.'"

Guntown Police Chief Michael Hall had said previously that Mayes also had a sawed-off shotgun and a rifle with him. But Albert Santa Cruz, commissioner of the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, said Mayes had only the pistol he used to kill himself.
