That's one way to interpret it, anyway. I have to wonder if the reported time is a misprint. What pawn shop is open at 1:20 am, and is that a time to bring kids along for the ride?

Fairbanks police say a 4-year-old boy playing with a handgun at a pawn shop fired a round into the store's ceiling.

No one was injured but police have forwarded a misdemeanor reckless endangerment charge against a store employee to the district attorney's office.

Police took a call on the incident at 1:21 a.m. Sunday.

Sgt. Bruce Barnett tells the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner that the father of the boy was talking to an employee and saw his son playing with the 1-year-old son of 24-year-old Jaclyn Johnson, a store employee.

The father of the 4-year-old says he heard a loud bang and saw his son with a silver revolver in his hands.

Barnett says the .38-caliber Smith & Wesson Special was Johnson's personal weapon.
